DFW Map Rally on April 3rd!

1 Attachment(s)
It's almost spring, so it's time for a fun drive! The 2010 edition of the DFW Map Rally will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, beginning in Plano.

This rally involves a map specially printed for us by Mapsco, of the area in Collin and Dallas counties where the rally will take place. You will be given some rules for determining the route to take. You will figure out that route, then drive it. The team that most closely follows the predicted route, and who finds the most clues along the route, will be the winner. See details on the attached flyer.

The event will start at Subaru of Plano, 4480 W. Plano Pkwy in Plano, east of Ohio and west of Coit Road. Registration will open at 8:30am, with the first car starting at 10:01am. The finish is at Napoli's Pizza & Restaurant, also in Plano.

The entry fee is $30 if you preregister. Go to tinyurl.com/DMR10msr to do so. There will be a $5 late fee for registering on April 3rd.

Unfortunately I will be at Import Reactor that weekend so I cannot attend.

It takes more skill than a scavenger hunt....but it's not a timed rally that requires a computer to win. You need to ba able to read a map, and apply logic to the rules and instructions to figure out where to go (but you can't get lost).

We give out trophies at the end. All first-time rallyists run in one class, so one of you will win a trophy.

Come give it a try!

Interesting. But what does the money go towards? Cancer? AIDS? 370z oil cooling research?

It goes towards rally expenses: SCCA sanction, insurance for everyone involved, trophies, printing the general instructions and the route instructions, flyers, part of the year-end series trophies, online-registration fees, and so on. If we only have 20 cars, we will lose money. If we have 30 cars, we will make money. For the entire series, we will probably break even.

We do have one charity rally, on June 12th, for a No-kill animal shelter. Mark that on your calendar.
