DFW Dyno Day at Speedtek (Haltom City)

So I've been wanting to get a baseline Dyno for a little while now and now that I've got some miles I'm ready. I contacted Speedtek (they're right down the street from my work) and asked about their fees. Typically, they charge $65 for (3) pulls with no major tuning allowed, which I've found to be a pretty decent price. I also just found that they offer 10packs for Race Clubs and such. The price is awesome so I figured I'd see if it might be possible to get together a group for a hang out/dyno day sometime soon. Here's what they offer:

Dynojet Chassis Dynamometer
Dynamometer information includes:
Horsepower, Torque, RPM, Air/Fuel Mixture, Speed

Solo Pass: $65.00
This package includes 3 Base Pulls with Wide Band-O2. No major tuning allowed.

Team Pass: (0-10 Vehicles) $350.00; ($35 per additional vehicle)
This package is designed for Car Clubs or Race Teams with a number of cars. The session will begin as soon a the store opens and run until 7:00 P.M. if necessary. 3 Base Pulls per vehicle; No major tuning allowed.

Obviously, at $35 per person this is a pretty awesome deal. Let's see if we can get 10 people together that are interested and pick a Saturday to do it.

Here's Speedtek's info:
5950 Airport Frwy #400
Haltom City, TX 76117
(682)647-0012
Hours: M-F 9.30a-6p, Sat 9a-5p
www.speedtek.net

This supposedly would take all day at an average of 45mins per person (7-1/2 hours) so if someone could make it early versus late then we can move other people around to accommodate. So long as we can get 10 people I doubt it would matter what time everyone was there.

Right now I'm thinking Feb 13th, 20th, or 27th, and I can go any one of those days (all Saturdays). These won't conflict with the Superbowl or Valentine's Day.

Preferred Date:
13th - FastJew, vipor
20th - vipor
27th - FastJew, vipor

Why not do it the weekend of the hockey game? A bunch of people will be there?
But you want to do your dyno soon for a baseline, forgot about that.

we can do it for the hockey game too, it's just that the dyno bs will take most of the day, and i don't know when the game is.

it would be a lot of fun to all meet up there at like 9am with coffee and then order some pizza or sammies for lunch then head to Dodies and the game

Vipor - Other than running our cars for HP/Torque/RPM etc... what do they do during these Dyno runs? I'm a rookie sorry. But is it just like my cars progress report? Or do they actually tune the ECU or something? I'd be interested, but i'm bone stock. So my numbers would be the same as anything i found on the internet right?

You will get
~HP
~Torque
~A/F Ratio
For you it will be a baseline setup, so if/when you start to mod you can see your progress if you want if you go back to this shop for a comparison.

That's what i thought. But being stock, any numbers/baselines i find on the internet, even this forum would be the same right?

Tuning our cars requires hardware and proprietary software. Plus this shop would be a ways down the list as far as shops to work on Z's. This would be 3 dyno pulls each, like a progress report as you said. Your numbers won't necessarily be the same as what you find from other stock 370's, but they will be very close. Everyone's car is a little different.

It's a DynoJet, so any shop with the same style of Dynometer.

50/50, depends on the dyno, location, etc.
Dyno results are not 100% accurate, what Vipor gets in Dallas will not be the same he gets in Houston. Even going that day and back another day could results in +/-2-3HP change for a car with no modifications. If you are not concerned about gains and want to just worry about final number then after you are done with your modifications jump on the dyno for the end results.

vipor 01-25-2010 04:39 PM

I'm taking mine as a baseline run, especially being that I have a Nismo. Some people have done some "stock" Nismo pulls, but I want to know where I stand specifically before I start adding mods.

Sounds like a a good excuse to get together and meet some of the people on this board. I'll have to check on the 20th, but I am free the 13th or 27th.

Can't decide if I want to have my FI CBE exhaust on for the first time I dyno the car or not. Should get it within the next 2 weeks so it will be close. I know there is no way in hell I will be able to let it sit around the house long.:icon17:
