My 2 cents on Stillen

I purchased my 370Z back in July and have added Stillen's oil cooler, transmission cooler, cat back exhaust and supercharger. My dealings with Stillen have all been great. Mark has called about once a week to check on the me and the car for the past three weeks. With all of the Stillen upgrades the car has really become a blast to drive as a daily driver or on the track.

Josh@STILLEN 10-22-2013 11:25 AM

Awesome to hear! Thanks for taking the time to post! :D

JWillis72 10-23-2013 07:12 PM

Josh, The car had the check engine light come on today because of the O2 sensors so I emailed Mark about the problem and after discussing it and sending a picture they agree the car is running rich. Mark is working on how we can work on the tune with a local tuner on a dyno to solve the problem. Things like this are seldom perfect so it's the service after the sell that counts and so far I am very pleased with the way Stillen is handling this situation!

Josh@STILLEN 10-24-2013 09:06 AM

It's rare, but we have seen some vehicles and ECU's that need some adjustment. Happy to work with you until everything is dialed in. PM me if I can help, but sounds like everyone is taking care of you. :)

I can't even begin to say how jerky you guys handle customer service! I couldn't be more disappointed with a company I gave $10K. I thought I believed in Stillen only to be disgusted with the results!

What happened? the SEX wasn't good????

Kyle@STILLEN 11-01-2013 11:20 AM

Mr. Willis, I am very concerned and confused by your recent post. After we spoke last week you had informed me that the car was running rich. Because you frequently use your car on the track you had mentioned that you were thinking of having it custom tuned so that the car was going to be setup for your environment, your fuel, and your uses. Even though at this time we did not have any information as to why the car may be running rich, and at this point you had received the tuned kit you had purchased, I offered to give you a full refund on the tuning portion if you could send us back the cable and license.

What we found out later when the car was with your tuner is that the car ran exactly the same way whether you were using our canned tune, or the tune that they had developed for you. The car would run great for 7 or 8 minutes, then all of a sudden the air/fuel ratios would wildly fluctuate. Your tuner agreed that there was nothing wrong with our tune or his, there must have been something with the installation. Agreeing with your tuner we suggested to check the following items:

Double check the wiring
clean the MAF sensors
double check the cooling system to make sure there wasn't an air pocket.
They then asked for you to call them after this had been done.

That was on the 30th and we have not heard anything until this post.

We would like to see you enjoying your car and would like to assist in identifying what the problem is. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 800-576-2131. My direct extension is 173.

I really dont understand this post. Right now I read a post from Willis on the 31st that has no explanation, no history, no nothing. I will always giive people the benefit of the doubt till they are guilty of something. Right now I see nothing. Yes I have been around this site as well as MY37 & My350Z for the last few years so I know of the many stories.

JWillis72 11-14-2013 08:18 AM

The kit is now running great after Harry at ZTuner.com got rid of the Stillen tune that had the car blowing black smoke. Kyle and Mark both seemed like they were trying to help and were very nice but every tech person we spoke to just wanted to blame the install. I've gotten better tech help from India than I did Stillens tech jerks. It had nothing to do with the install and 100% to do with the Stillen tune. I absolutely love the kit but I would recommend anyone that buys one to buy the tuner kit and find a good tuner.

monthtrial 12-22-2013 03:17 AM

Ditto!

I had some interaction with Grant (related to an existing purchase) and he applied discretion and accommodated my needs. They were very quick to deliver the parts too!

I'll be dealing w/ them in the future w/o hesitation.

winnre 12-22-2013 03:54 PM

I want that Stillen Supercharger that runs around $6,500, but that's the parts, I am afraid to ask the install price!

Mine was around $1500 and then $500 for a real tune. If you decide to do it buy the tuner kit and find a good tuner! I've been very happy with everything I have bought from Stillen except the caned tune and the response from the "tech guys". Mark Dorman and Kyle Millen were great and I will order from them again if I need something. The lesson I learned here was I messed up thinking someone could tune my car from the other coast. The lesson cost me a bunch of money and had me pissed off but in the end I love how the car runs now!

Its was good chatting with you today Jason! Hope you had a blast at Sebring and glad you're enjoying your car so much now :)

+1 great kit but IMO a canned tune for any type of FI on these cars is just a bandaid to get you to the dyno for a full custom tune

The canned tune is designed to be safe and pass smog (as well as allow us to offer a 3 year, 36k miles warranty). But if you're outside of California and want to squeeze the most power out of your kit...a tuner kit is available because everyone's car, environmental conditions, driving style, and fuel are different :D

The team at Stillen is certainly all about customer service. I recently had the opportunity to visit Stillen HQ in Costa Mesa, CA and I left so impressed with everything they have to offer.

I am also installing the Stillen SC/BBK and I couldn't be happier with the customer support to this day. Fantastic team behind the brand :)

Disappointed Fan

Hey Big STILLEN fan here, After doing tons of comparisons I went with STILLEN for my 2013 370z sport. As soon as I got her I had a STILLEN CAI installed then went for the full STILLEN CAT BACK exhaust and to top it all off had a STILLEN 25 core oil cooler installed.

The Problem started 6 months after I had the CAT back installed it started to rust along the wields, living in NYC is hard but it should NOT be rusting in 6 months

Called STILLEN customer service and was told that it was because I lived in NYC that the salt air was the cause of it and that I should just use a steel brush to clean off the rust. I further explained that the vehicle is stored for the winter and not driven, the CAT back just had a few hundred miles on it this shouldn't be happening in just 6 months. They asked me to bring it back to where I had it installed !! did that and now 4 months later still no answer from STILLEN .....SIMPLE YES OR NO that all I would like to hear.

Kyle@STILLEN 04-29-2014 07:20 PM

Good evening and I apologize for not posting a response sooner. I wanted to confirm everything before posting.

We are only aware of one customer in the New York region who is currently experiencing a problem with corrosion on their vehicle and we actually have been in contact with your shop. I won't name the shop on this forum as they are an excellent shop/customer of ours and we do not want to misrepresent them.

The shop was notified that a replacement rear section exhaust will be sent out when you are ready to coordinate the installation.

Also, just to clarify. The reason we mentioned that it is relevant to where you live is because New York has gone to a road salt that is very corrosive. We are concerned that all vehicles in the North East will start seeing premature corrosion and/or rust issues with their vehicles. Not just on STILLEN product but the cars themselves...It is a pretty major issue: Mechanics blame winter road treatment for damage to cars - WFSB 3 Connecticut

Does Stillen make a front lip for 2013 370Z yet?

We have not developed a front lip for the 2013+ 370Z. We have not looked into it as of yet. Do you think there is a demand for a lip or splitter for the 2013+ models?

MEZZZER 06-23-2014 01:02 PM

i would love a front splitter

I'm sorry for the delay. Demand for the Gen 3 intakes increase dramatically and we have been working hard to catch up on backorders. We just finished a lot of sets yesterday and shipped them out and more will be going out this week. If you can PM me or call us with your order number we can check status.

Thanks!

I'm sure they've seen the emails. Last time they were on was yesterday. Why not just call their shop directly?

nomodsjk 08-19-2016 03:15 PM

I also have nothing but great things to say about Stillen. The same week i purchased my Z i literally ordered a truck load of parts from stillen including the supercharger, headers, test pipes, cat back, oil and trans cooler pretty much every performance part stillen sold for my z and I had absolutely no issues with them. I calked them over and over for different questions when my friend and I were installing everything and they never once made me feel like I was bothering them with a stupid question. They even elected to give me a couple items for free since my bill was somewhere near 13/14k and while the stillen kit doesn't put down the highest numbers on the dyno it more than makes up for it with reliability. I haven't had one issue from any part that i bought from them. Not one. This is why im always so surprised to see threads/posts on here bashing stillen. I know everyone's experience will differ but for me they get a 10 of 10 rating

I apologize. We have been incredibly busy and we have still never hard our account fixed by the admins. This account is a vendor account but have not been granted the extra message space we are supposed to. Going on over 1 year without admins fixed with constant reminders. We are stuck at the 50 inbox message limit. I apologize for not remember to clear it out this past week.

My 2 cents n Stillen

I also did add a Stillen SC to my car and Stillen has been nice on the phone to deal with but the real issue comes down to Uprev. We even switched back to Uprev licensing. I had to scrap the Uprev and got with EcuTek and take it to a tuner. Now I have a completely different car.
I am not going to bad mouth Stillen but they really should switch over to EcuTek.
When is Stillen going to offer an air to air kit with the superchargers.
