does not look good. seven times F1 champ…..

He was an amazing driver, although I often pulled against him in his heyday. Still, classy man and a great champion.

m4a1mustang 12-29-2013 09:22 PM

I hope he pulls through. There is a press conference scheduled for 5AM EST to update his condition.

This is terrible news. I really hope he pulls through.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Schumacher 'blinked' as doctors move to end coma | News | Motorsport.com

Tazicon 01-30-2014 09:59 AM

That is some good news there

Chuck33079 01-30-2014 10:02 AM

Let's hope that it really is a good thing that he is being woken up. I hope he's the same guy he was before the crash and there isn't massive brain damage. If I was in a coma and came out full retard I'd be pissed you kept me alive. Sometimes the humane thing is to do nothing.

I mean, if I went into a coma as arguably F1's best ever and came out as the guy who collects the carts at the supermarket, I'd have been better off dead.

Nismo89 01-30-2014 10:04 AM

responding to simple commands right now, which is good. probably things like " squeeze my hand, move your finger, move your toes, blink your eyes" type stuff

simple things first.

the fact that the dr's see enough progress to begin to "wake" him up is outstanding. considering just a couple weeks ago everyone was doom and gloom about him being in a vegetative state for the rest of his life.

He's on the road to being conscious once more........ this is outstanding

he opened and closed his eyes.

The longer this goes the worse it gets no matter what his managers say or don't say. Long term comas are bad news.

A loss of enormous talent in spatial reasoning -- not all genius is expressed in traditional arts or sciences.

I am rarely moved by "celebrity" deaths/incidences of severe injury (particularly those who have made dubious contributions to culture or society) over the misfortunes experienced any other poor person, but Shumachaer was a genuinely gifted individual who was fortunate enough to express that talent to it's fullest, and to distinguish himself from among a very short list of other highly gifted men and women.

My best wishes to him and his family.

shadoquad 06-15-2014 03:10 PM

That's good news, but I doubt he'll be the same mentally. These sorts of injuries change a person.
