1 playoff win. I think he deserves a extension but not 100 million. one playoff win..... talk about a gamble!

Compared to Romo's cost/playoff win ratio, Ryan's a bargain.

Yeah it's stupid that he's getting paid more than Flacco, even though Flacco just won Super Bowl MVP. I'm fine with him getting $100M, but shpuld have been less than Flacco.

Flacco: 9 playoff wins, Super Bowl 47 Champion, and MVP. most road playoff wins in NFL history. tied with Peyton Manning for playoff wins (9 wins ), been in the playoffs every year since being drafted. 3 AFC championship trips...was the very first rookie QB in NFL history to make it to the AFC championship game.

Ryan: 1 playoff win since being drafted.

to me they are banking hard. on prayers..

It's not like either of them will ever see $100m out of the deal. Three years in it'll get renegotiated. The "$100m deals" are bs numbers since they're so back end heavy. Teams know they'll redo the contract before you hit those cap-unfriendly years. Might as well only look at the signing bonus and the first three years of salary.

Flacco isn't worth the money the Ravens spent on him. He's an average QB at best, def. not elite.

Haboob 07-25-2013 03:49 PM

The money being thrown around is stupid, esp. for average to above average QBs... and even below average ones (Romo).

Nismo89 07-25-2013 03:50 PM

flacco and his agent admitted that the deal in reality is a 3 year deal, even tho it says 5 year on the contract, because in year 3 flacco's cap number is like 28 million. or something like that. and his agent said there's no way the team could afford that number.

his cap number this year however is 6 million.

Exactly. It's all creative accounting. Teams can't afford the last few years of any of these deals. It's why I laughed every time somebody compained that Flacco's new contract was too much and they couldn't sign anyone this year.

eh I don't think hes manning or brady but I do think he's becoming elite. maybe he wasn't at first but from what ive seen of him, especially in this years playoff historic playoff run and tieing Joe Montana for most TD passes without an interception in NFL playoff history, shows he's progressing.

his body of work overall speaks for him and his yardage is gradually increasing from year to year. more or less.

after year 3 the sides will renegotiate, and we'll see how the numbers play out.

what im worried about now is Flacco's WR's outside of Torrey and Pitta. hopefully they can make the plays when its needed most! lol

Chuck33079 07-25-2013 03:59 PM

You should be. Jacoby Jones used up his quota of catches for the next three years in last years postseason.

gawd....... I understand that at some point Ozzie wanted to give the young group of players a real chance instead of signing a Free Agent but dang.....jacoby ive laways thought of as a decent number 3 WR. and the main Return man.....

im hoping one of the young guys step it up. or 2.... Torrey did say that he's excited from our offense and our young group of WR's...... said everyone will be surprised...

im hoping he's right lol.

I was so happy you took him off our hands since he gave you the playoff game the year before. Then the ************ decided to learn how to play last winter.

Haboob 07-25-2013 04:16 PM

They sold their best receiver too. :icon17:

:icon17: im hoping our WR core will be as Torrey said it would...*crossing fingers* but we'll see

Flacco I will say is a lot like Eli. For most of the regular season he's just ok, but when he gets on his hot streak he is definitely elite. He definitely had some big time clutch plays in the playoffs last year.

I'm just glad Ryan didn't get paid more than Rodgers. Rodgers definitely deserves the title of top paid player for a while.
