can't wait for UFC100...Mir/Lesnar/GSP in one night.

I hope Mir's been working his *** off. He may not get so lucky this time. Lesnar is a beast.

I want to see Shane Carwin take Lesnar.

I wouldn't say Mir got lucky by any means, Lesnar stormed into the fight like a Tonka truck and he was bound to get caught.

He got somewhat lucky IMO. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of Mir's, I'm still rooting for him. His submission skills are incredible. Lesnar made an amateur mistake and Mir made him pay for it. I used to train in MMA so I know how much skill it takes to be able to pull off a kneebar like Mir did.

you have to admit though Mir was getting dominated by Lesnar's striking. Look how quickly Lesnar managed to bloody him up after the fight was over. like I said Lesnar is a beast and has an advantage muscle/strength-wise. the guy is huge. This pic says it all:

If Lesnar swings at him that's going to hurt him, whether he blocks it or not.

Lesnar has the advantage on striking (his fists are virtually unstoppable) while Mir has the advantage on submissions. Problem is it's not going to be easy for Mir to take him down and keep him there. Lesnar is going to be a lot more cautious about that this time. It'll be very difficult for Mir to choke out Lesnar. I think Mir should just be evasive and let Lesnar fatigued...I know he'll get tired pretty quickly.

Spike aired the preview show last night. Not sure when it's showing again but definitely worth watching.

Hardy beat Davis, just as I figured, but credit to Davis for recovering after getting dropped. However, he then acted like a little child after the fight and wouldn't shake hands, so he can return to his duties as gatekeeper in silence.

Even though Velasquez was floored at the beginning of the first and second rounds, his recovery rate is absolutely insane. The two punches that Kongo hit him with at the beginning of round one were even harder than the shots that knocked out past Kongo opponents (Evensen, etc.), but Velasquez recovered literally within one second and then proceeded to use Kongo as a punching bag and wrestling dummy for the remainder of the fight. Complete domination.

I had Wanderlei winning the fight against Franklin (29-28), as did a lot of people it seems, but that was at least a close fight. I guess Franklin's half-assed takedown in the final round sealed it for him. I thought it was very poor scoring, but that was an awesome fight and I hope that Wanderlei does get a chance to shine at 185. He'll beat most of the guys he faces.

Cro Cop beating al Turk was expected, though the eye poke was unfortunate. However, I must go ahead and rofl at Cro Cop ******* Dana White and the UFC over, as he has now left the UFC and is going back to DREAM. On the one hand, this is a pathetic display from Cro Cop, after proclaiming that he was going to "die" trying to become UFC Heavyweight Champion. On the other hand, it's about time that Dana got a taste of his own medicine. Regardless, Alistair Overeem is going to destroy Cro Cop (again), so it makes no difference. Hilarious, though.

Oh and Uno got robbed, period.

I see Kongo still has no ground skills. Disappointing. And it really did look like wandy was hurt by the weight cut. His cardio is better than that.

That was pretty painful to watch. Tisk, tisk, Kongo.

AARC51 06-15-2009 11:30 PM

Split decision is like a half win. If Kongo was half decent at altering strategy on the fly he would have won that fight. Why tie-up with a guy when you've dropped him at distance multiple times? Also, anyone with "Brown Pride" tatood across their chest deserves to have their *** kicked.

Good match ups, hope everyone watches!
