I heard it put this way, MJ was loved for the type of player he was.

Lebron is hated for the type of player he is.

Lebron hate was a small small minority when he was in Cleveland. Now people pick on every thing done or said. What changed, because his game certainly didn't... (rhetorical question)

And for the record, I watched MJ play from 89 on. The best there ever was, but he got away with some ridiculous stuff on a regular basis. More than any other player I have ever watched.

I've been a lebron hater since before it was cool. But seriously? are you defending him after this past week? Him using his "clout" to whine about the fouls and get them upgraded to flagrant when he literally lowers his shoulder into every one when he drives and never gets called for charging?!

Yeah, I am defending him. Because contrary to what you say, he doesn't "lower his shoulder" into everyone when he drives. That is just ridiculous, he would destroy people every game. Players would be leaving on stretchers. C'mon dude. And if you use the example for when he got his flagrant from hitting Boozer, that was intentional and retaliation for what had been going on all game. It surprised me because a) I had never seen Lebron charge someone like that before and b) I never saw Lebron retaliate before.

And you know what? It was a good thing. 2 years ago, all the hits would have taken Lebron out of his game, and he probably would have ended the game sulking. Now, he is just not going to take it anymore. Good for him, and a bad sign for every other team in the league.

And you know what, how is this any different than Kobe talking about the "dangerous play" on him a few weeks ago, when he landed awkwardly on his ankle because his defender "got to close" when he was making a jump shot? That was a much more innocent play than the intentional hits Lebron takes when he drives to the hole. But they are both right, players should be protected, basketball (for the most part) really isn't a contact sport. I want to see the stars play against each other, not taken out of the game because of over-aggressive physical play.

Surprised no one posted about Kobe rupturing his Achilles.

Kobe Bryant of Los Angeles Lakers to be out 6 to 9 months after Achilles surgery - ESPN Los Angeles

A lot has to unfold between now and next season, but I think the Lakers are done for the next 5-10 years.

Thats a shame cause it is all in his head. But at least he will have time to heal to 110% and work it out in his mind. Hopefully he comes back stronger.

Home teams swept the first game of the playoffs, with lots of blowouts. The first round looks to be a yawner. Knicks and Celts look to be the only interesting match up, and maybe not even.

Too bad about the Warriors though, losing David Lee sucked.

Anybody else feel there were too many injuries this season? (I'm sure LA does)

saber 04-24-2013 12:24 AM

65% FG for the Warriors sans D. Lee. Holy sh*t guys, Curry and Co. can shoot lights out FOR AN ENTIRE GAME.

I thought without D. Lee the Warriors were done. Wow, very impressive. Exciting series so far.

So the Bulls just beat the Nets, and are leading the series 2-1. What happens if the Bulls make it to the second round? Is D. Rose still going to sit? That would be... wow. Noah should take him into a locked room and beat his *** till he decides to play.

if we make it to the second round, he has to at least come off the bench. the city will force him. they will forsake him as our favorite son. if he doesn't, noah will become the face of the bulls and rose will be shunned in public. if people think jay cutler got on chicagos bad side, they ain't seen nothing yet.

JNews86 04-28-2013 08:44 AM

Yeah lets rush a player who may not feel 100% and possibly make the injury worse.

D. Rose was 85% in the beginning of February. Doctors have said he is 100% for weeks. Every other superstar comes back somewhere between that time.

I understand everyone is different, but seeing Noah hobbling up and down the floor like some crazed hobo, and seriously contributing in the playoffs, is hard to take when your superstar is sitting by choice. The Bulls as a team are playing their hearts out. Is D. Rose a part of that, where is his heart?

After coming back from a huge deficit to that insane 3OT win, how can you not be rip roaring to get in the next game?

Geez, and I'm not even a Bulls fan.

I'm probably the biggest bulls and d rose fan there is. There are some rumors that it's mgmt choice to shut down rose and not rose's. In fact, this is pretty easy to believe that they knew he wouldn't play the whole time but said he might, or that he's day to day, just to hype it up and sell tickets at their ridiculous prices. No secret that the only regular season game that rose sat on the bench happened to be when season tickets for next year went on sale.

I understand all the hate against him because his teammates are all injured fighting out there, but at the same time he got injured by carrying this team for 2 years straight through injuries and what not. For once the bulls are playing team ball (boozer finally is playing well, Deng stepped up huge, etc.) Before they would just stand around and watch rose do things. At this point in the season, him not being confident with his leg and trying to play that way will hurt the bulls, they will just go back to let the MVP do everything. In Chicago, Rose is loved regardless. He lost probably some respect/love from a few fans sure, but this city will be on his side whether he comes back in round 2 or next year. Let just say Chicago has a soft spot for its hometown boy.

So collins is gay. Good for him for coming out of the closet but honestly, why do we care about whether he is gay or not? These are professional athletes, I don't care too much about their personal life. Why is it a big deal? Is it because slowly but surely professional sports are turning in the WWF with storylines and drama and overactive evil commissioners? Like the way the world acted about Manti's GF just made me sad.

Anyway, One more win Chicago! then on to Miami!

I was rooting for Denver. I'm a George Karl fan, but I have to admit the Nuggets were outplayed and outcoached. Even without Lee, the Warriors looked pretty damn good. They aren't getting by the Spurs though. :p

Probably the best explanation I've heard from a Bulls fan. Still hard to watch knowing a potential super weapon is sitting there.

Nets or Bulls game 7?

Warriors looked great the whole series basically.

Nets bulls is tough, so much depends on what players are playing for the Bulls. Last night was just one of those games where it seemed like the worst luck happened (how does one team have 4 people with the flu :shakes head: )

If Deng plays and everybody doesn't feel ill I would say Bulls have a small advantage, they are a good road team this season and can handle the home court "advantage" the nets have. They also need to stay out of foul trouble, esp boozer. Boozer is the most consistent offense the bulls have so they need him to score.

If hindrich plays, then I say Bulls have the for sure advantage. He's the difference maker out there. Rumor is though, he calf muscle is torn not strained, so if that's the case, hes out the rest of the playoffs. Should be a good game to watch for sure.

Rooster89 05-03-2013 06:54 PM

I didn't like Hinrich the first time he was on the bulls. my feelings haven't changed much. He would have been a decent point guard in the old NBA, before point guards became scoring guards of their own account.

I didn't expect him to do much in the series, but he was the one that shut down D. Williams. As soon as that happened the Nets couldn't run their offense, and it allowed the Bulls to start coming back in the series. I never expected that. If Hinrich were healthy, this series would probably be over. The Bulls need one gigantic bandaid right now. The Nets take the series.
