I'm super happy for Dirk and the Mavs.

Happy for Mark Cuban, too. Even though he's a controversial figure, he runs his team like a fan, so I'm glad he got his trophy. The Mavs were a joke before he got there.

Stay classy, King James. Stay classy.

I don't think the Heat will be back in the Finals if Spoelstra keeps his job.

Honestly, you'd fire a coach that just got you to the finals?

Generally, I honestly wouldn't do that. However, Spoelstra really coached like an amateur against Carlisle. Dallas exploited gaps in Spoelstra's defense that every team in the league is now aware of. Carlisle also stunted their offense with timely zones because he knew Spoelstra relied too heavily on pure athleticism. Miami showed no set offense because of this reliance. After JJB was pushed into Dallas' starting lineup, the Mavs won three straight games. It took two losses in a row before Spoelstra reacted and copied the move by promoting Chalmers to their starting five. He was out coached in every aspect. He should be fired in my opinion.

Miami needs a seasoned coach to be dominate. If they can do that, I think they will become a dynasty.

Spoelstra's tactics were slim to none, making Carlisle look like a bloody genius. The zone defense stifled Miami EVERY SINGLE TIME. A good head coach would know how to fix this. Spo has done a brilliant job managing egos, but I think he's more of an assistant coach right now than a head coach. He can't think of quick hitting, game changing tactics on the fly.

He will learn, there's no doubt about that. But if the Heat want a HERE AND NOW solution? Time to find a seasoned coach to sit on that bench next to Spo, and whisper in his ear what he should be doing...or just take over for Spo outright.

To me, it's extreme to do anything from a coaching standpoint to the guy who got you G6 of the NBA Finals (and one of the BEST FKING FINALS I'VE EVER SEEN too). Let him learn, he'll be fine next year.

See, I think it's worth another season to see if he can adapt.

Although, I felt bad when the TB Bucs fired Tony Dungy after he'd turned that program around, but their gamble paid off when Chucky took them to the promised land, so maybe you're right.

I just generally dance with the gal that brought me.

phelan 06-15-2011 11:36 AM

You know gals? :p
