That was one of the better title fights in quite some time.
Started off slow, but I wish the 4th round wouldn't have ended. Jones would have KO'd him for sure if he had a bit more time. Correct decision in the end though, IMO. Some people don't think so though. |

I think Jones underestimated him. Jones will come out better and stronger next time around.
|
I think that elbow in the 4th round really won the fight for Jones. If he doesn't hurt Gustaffson with that, then he may have lost the fight. I think both fighters will come back stronger next time and it could really go either way.

Just bought my tickets for UFC 168 :excited:

I hope Silva KO's Weidman. That would make my night for sure.

Jon Bones Jones vs Glover Teixeira set tentavily for Feb. 1 confirmed on Sportscenter. Seems Gustafsson will have to wait for the rematch. I think it is the right choice as it was a close fight. However it was not scored a draw even though most feel it was. So the next contender should get his shot instead of waiting. Then if UFC doesn't have anyone better to match up with the champion after that fight they can easily pencil in Gustafsson and no one will act like he is undeserving of another shot after his last performance. The whole ordeal that happened at lightweight doesn't need to occur again....ever.

Several great fights last night. Cain did it again. He will just have JDS ticket always. I just don't see anyone taking Cain out.
Big Country needs to hang it up. Sanchez fight was epic. Two warriors slinging it out. |

"Contrary to popular belief, I try so hard to like Roy Nelson," White said to a small group of reporters following Saturday night's post-UFC 166 press conference. "It's like I saw him backstage before I came out to talk to you guys. I was like, 'What's up Roy? You looked good. You lost weight,' and this and that. Then I come out and hear the stupid s--t he said to you guys right before I walk out there." All three judges awarded Cormier the bout, 30-27. After the loss, Nelson said he wasn't all that impressed with his opponent's performance. "He didn’t engage me really," Nelson said. "That’s not to take anything away from Cormier, but it's tough to fight like that. He's a great fighter, but it's frustrating." White was shocked at the evaluation. "He said Cormier wasn't engaging enough," White said. "He outwrestled him, and he punched the living s--t out of him. How much more does he want to be engaged? He says some dumb s--t, and he's very delusional. UFC boss Dana White: I try to like Roy Nelson, but he's delusional | News*–*MMAjunkie.com |
Cain vs Werdum could be interesting. Don't think anyone else will have more than a puncher's chance to take the title from him. JDS probably won't get another shot for a while, but he's clearly and by far the 2nd best HW in the UFC.

gsp/hendricks gonna be good
|
Yes it is.
How bout this past weekend. Dan Hen. got KO'd. |
He might be getting too old, juat like Chuck Liddell towards the end of his career.
|
Hendricks was robbed
|
w.t.f. was that?
|
can't wait to see what hendricks says
|
oh... that's some b-s... he's saying he doesn't want a rematch with JH
|
yeah this is bs
|
Hendricks is right... Rogan is right... JH is ducking for cover, very disappointing... almost like he knew the officials were going to call it his way - almost like Fawas Zahabi knew the officials were going to call it for GSP when he picked him up...
Unless GSP is really retiring and walking away from his title, I'm going to say that the UFC has officially gone the way of boxing |
|
|
are you thinking that's a tap? you can see he's rolling on that right elbow as he begins to roll free of the position, which would explain why his hand waived back and forth twice in small movements - if he was tapping, it would slap hard 4-5 times

someone posted that on reddit
UFC 167 in Tweets: Pros score controversial Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks decision - MMA Fighting |
Regardless of damage I saw GSP land more blows. Not as hard but contact was way more.
Josh K. Got knocked out. Lol. |
Well after last nights spectacle it is unbelievable. When you have a clear winner and the judges can't get it right in the main event is just sad. Everyone saying GSP landed more strikes according to compustrike? Give me a break this isn't fencing. It is clear who landed the more SIGNIFICANT strikes. GSP lost that fight. GSP knows it, I know it, and deep down all the GSP fans know it. GSP came out looking like Junior Dos Santos's close relative while Johny Hendricks looked like he never stepped foot in the octagon. Something is wrong with that picture if you think GSP won the fight by landing more strikes. He clearly did not control the fight and he clearly did not inflict any damage. Big Rig was in fact robbed. :shakes head:
|
Hendricks definitely won that fight. The fightmetric score says he won too.
|
I'm still unbelievably pissed that they gave the belt back to GSP.
There's no doubt that Hendricks won. At best GSP won two rounds, but in reality it was 4-1 Hendricks. Then the pussy-*** Frenchy says, "I'm taking a leave of absence." He knows he stole that belt. |

I actually thought it was crazy everyone was saying Hendricks "clearly" won it. I had the fight 2-2 going into the 5th round, which I thought was a toss up. I wasn't surprised they gave the fight to GSP, they normally let the belt holder keep the belt in such a close contest. I thought it was a great fight and could have gone either way.

I completely disagree, I don't think GSP's sorry, boring *** won any round up until the last. MAYBE one round earlier, but Hendricks was the clear winner. Ugh, I'm almost to the point of not buying PPV UFC anymore. I was all pumped to plan a 12/28 trip to Vegas to go to the Silva rematch, but HEEELLLLL NO after this recent result. |

The Mark Hunt bigfoot fight was awesome.

Definitely. So was that KO by Shogun.
|
Yea Shogun KO'd the Fuk out of that guy.
|
first time I think ive ever watched a fight and was glad it was a draw. its was sort of appropriate for such an epic fight.
http://usatmmajunkie.files.wordpress...-331.jpg?w=640 and yeah Shogun gave Te Huna the rashad evans neck |
christmas comes early for johny hendricks. GSP just vacated the title
so I dont see anyone beating him to claim it.. whos the other contender? you think robbie lawler has done enough or needs one more fight? my guess is since matt brown is out of the condit fight you will see a hendricks condit rematch to fill the empty slot...lets see |
I'm so glad for johny, he deserves to hold the title
|
It was Hendricks belt anyway. I wouldn't want to get back in the octagon again after taking that kind of beating either.
|
Cant blame GSP though... kind of a smart thing to do if you've made a lot of money and it's best to preserve your body now
