Will be interesting to see if the Hendrick boys have solved their intermediate track problems -- AND if JGR guys have fixed their engine problems.....

Yeah, the #5 car hasn't been all that great so far this year. I really think Mark got the short end of the stick over the offseason during the HMS crew chief swap. Behind Knaus, I think Alan Gustafson was the best crew chief HMS had.

It works out for me, though, because I'm a Jeff Gordon fan. :icon17:

OK, time for some "redneck racin" -- and there WILL be some rubbin today!

Go #5!

At some point I'll have both the Tallendega race and the Long Beach Grand Prix on at the same time. Gotta love having two TVs in the living room

I think NASCAR went overboard with the restrictor plate change. They are too small.

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 12:37 PM

Is that change why they are all paired up now instead of in long trains?

No, that's a product of the new car (the front/rear bumpers lining up perfectly) and the super smooth surfaces at Talladega and now Daytona since it was freshly repaved). But the two car drafts were so fast at Daytona (206 mph average laps) that they made the plates a lot smaller to slow them down some, but I think they slowed them down a little too much (190-192 mph laps in the draft now when 196-200 would have been the sweet spot).

^ thanks. I remembered something about a change, but I couldn't remember if it occurred at the start of the season or during it.

What a finish!!!!!!!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 03:45 PM

Very nice. 4 wide!

Sscottfitz 04-17-2011 04:00 PM

Yea -- not a bad finish, I'm still NOT a fan of this type of racing (2x) -- it was exciting at the end -- guess I'm just slow to adapt.......

THAT SAID, good finish for Hendrick with all 4 cars in the top 8 -- gotta make Rick happy!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 04:03 PM

^ I'm not a huge fan of restrictor plate races in general. Bristol, Martinsville, Dover, etc. sort of races are far more exciting to me.
