Given her personailty, if she EVER gets into NASCAR full time she IS going to have some conflicts -- will be interesting to see how the drivers handle it.

I laughed yesterday at the radio traffic between Truex and his spotter after the accident -- he said, it must of been my fault since Danica wrecked....... Personally, it was typical Bristol, he probably came down a little, but Danica probably should have given him a little more room -- close knit racing.......

Gonna be some more feelins hurt today!

So how about the race yesterday? Pretty good. I'm not a Harvick fan, so I was kind of dissapointed to see him get by the 88 at the end, but a good race nonetheless.

Also, looks like we'll see Kimi Raikkonen in a truck at Charlotte next month. :D

Got into the Hotel in San Antonio in time to see the last 100 laps of the race -- still a little disappointed in the #5 this year (although he is in the top 10) -- but seemed like Kevin did a good job of saving his car for the last few laps -- looked like Jr was fighting "loose"....

Will be interesting to see if the Hendrick boys have solved their intermediate track problems -- AND if JGR guys have fixed their engine problems.....

Lemers 04-05-2011 06:35 AM

Not truly "stock" cars. And oval tracks ain't very interesting

Yeah, the #5 car hasn't been all that great so far this year. I really think Mark got the short end of the stick over the offseason during the HMS crew chief swap. Behind Knaus, I think Alan Gustafson was the best crew chief HMS had.

:iagree:

It works out for me, though, because I'm a Jeff Gordon fan. :icon17:

OK, time for some "redneck racin" -- and there WILL be some rubbin today!

Go #5!

At some point I'll have both the Tallendega race and the Long Beach Grand Prix on at the same time. Gotta love having two TVs in the living room

Nice

m4a1mustang 04-17-2011 12:35 PM

I think NASCAR went overboard with the restrictor plate change. They are too small.

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 12:37 PM

Is that change why they are all paired up now instead of in long trains?

No, that's a product of the new car (the front/rear bumpers lining up perfectly) and the super smooth surfaces at Talladega and now Daytona since it was freshly repaved). But the two car drafts were so fast at Daytona (206 mph average laps) that they made the plates a lot smaller to slow them down some, but I think they slowed them down a little too much (190-192 mph laps in the draft now when 196-200 would have been the sweet spot).

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 01:00 PM

^ thanks. I remembered something about a change, but I couldn't remember if it occurred at the start of the season or during it.

m4a1mustang 04-17-2011 03:37 PM

What a finish!!!!!!!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 03:45 PM

Very nice. 4 wide!

Sscottfitz 04-17-2011 04:00 PM

Yea -- not a bad finish, I'm still NOT a fan of this type of racing (2x) -- it was exciting at the end -- guess I'm just slow to adapt.......

THAT SAID, good finish for Hendrick with all 4 cars in the top 8 -- gotta make Rick happy!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 04:03 PM

^ I'm not a huge fan of restrictor plate races in general. Bristol, Martinsville, Dover, etc. sort of races are far more exciting to me.

Same here, but I'll be honest I can't look away whenever they are at Daytona/Talladega... they are nerve wracking races!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 04:49 PM

^The lead changes as much as in basketball on those tracks! :)

Sscottfitz 04-17-2011 05:03 PM

....SO Richmond in 2 weeks and I WILL be there both Fri & Sat night -- no "speed dating" at Richmond, it's every man for himself!

Very nice! Richmond is my favorite track to go watch a race at... so much action! I love a good short-track.

Look who is going to the 24 Hours of LeMans!:happydance:
Auto News - 24 Heures du Mans 2011 - NASCAR driver at Le Mans - LeMans.org

m4a1mustang 04-18-2011 07:23 PM

Haha, that's awesome! I didn't even know he did the 24 Hours of Dubai and the 24 Hours of Spa. I guess now that he's not running full time in Cup he can pretty much go around the world and race whatever he wants.

You know, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was going to run Le Mans after he was finished with Cup. It's a damn shame he never got the chance because he was awesome in the Corvette C5-Rs at Daytona.

Wow, that is pretty neat -- Mikey will certainly bring some viewers to that race who don't normally watch it -- for whatever reason, Mikey has been a "so-so NASCAR racer, but always brings a huge following...........sort of like Dale Jr............<grin> (that comment won't win me many friends.......)

dad 04-18-2011 08:32 PM

He's one of my favorite drivers and LeMans is my most favorite race! Can't wait!

Sscottfitz 05-15-2011 11:46 AM

Dover!

Looks like the weather gods are smiling on Dover (at least so far)......looking forward to a great Sprint Cup race today!

Sscottfitz 05-15-2011 03:41 PM

Kudos to the #5...

....great call at the end, turned a 15th place into a 2nd! Should be a descent move in the points!

Bring on the All Star Race (best viewed on a laptop in the Fontana Village Resort Lodge)!!!!

Zaggeron 05-15-2011 05:14 PM

I guess you never know ... I've seen plenty of races where the 4 tire pitstop guys raced right past the 2 tire guys in much less than 30 laps.

...Agreed -- was listening to Mark on the Scanner -- he wasn't sold on the final pit decision to take 2 until the end of the race -- Lance earned a great amount of credibility today with Mark.....

MC 05-24-2011 08:29 PM

Zaggeron 05-24-2011 11:02 PM

A perk for racing a Camry :)

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 03:39 PM

Now for something a little bit different.....

.......let's get ready for some real "seat of the pants", cars with fenders, racin!

Heck, I may need a nap to get thru this last race of the day.....:icon17:

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 04:10 PM

Should be a good one. :)

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 06:08 PM

Lot of guys set up for later -- #5 is VERY tight right now, but planning for it to "come in later"......
