Yeah I hope Nico keeps it up, and boy was that close, another lap and Ricciardo would have had him. Mercedes dropped the ball on tire strategy and got lucky

Oh Toto Wolff, your tears taste so sweet!

What a joke it is that F1 gave Rosberg a 10-second penalty for ramming Kimi. Practically F1 has given Mercedes a license to run all other cars off the track.

He didn't ram Kimi, but cutting in on the corner and taking it wide out was a shitty move, which is why he got the penalty (probably should have been a drive through penalty since they made contact). It was the same thing Vettel did to him in corner 1. Verstappen has done it too recent races, I wouldn't say they are giving Mercedes a pass. It was good to see red bull on the podium, will be a good fight between them and Ferrari for the number 2 spot.

Interesting defense of Nico's move on Kimi. Can you imagine the gushing of the F1 press had Max done this ?? Kimi was asleep - If Rosberg was too harsh F1 should ban overtaking - F1 - Autosport Plus

-----------------------------------

Amid so much talk about what people want Formula 1 to be, Nico Rosberg's penalty for his Malaysian GP move on Kimi Raikkonen basically amounts to an admission that hard racing is not welcome

F1's fight to enhance the show is ongoing. So it could do without discouraging drivers from doing things that are quite interesting on track.

Moments of genuine inspiration are few and far between in the modern age of grand prix racing, so punishing a driver on a rare occasion they were pushing the boundaries seems rather arse-about-face.

It was hard not to weep for competitive motorsport when Nico Rosberg was handed a 10-second time penalty for bumping into the side of Kimi Raikkonen while executing a bold move in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Drivers shouldn't be completely carefree when it comes to to barging past rivals but on-the-limit passes are part of the spectacle. Clumsy, dangerous driving isn't - and this was very much the right side of on-the-limit.

It wasn't exactly a last-second lunge - Rosberg had gone deeper into Turn 1, held the car in the middle of the road as the corner tightened and the intention to dive to the inside was clear the moment he straightened up for Turn 2.

He would have made the corner had Raikkonen not turned in, so was not out of control by a long way. The contact occurred because Raikkonen turned into the corner and the gap disappeared - not that the Finn was wrong to turn in, he just had no idea Rosberg was down his inside.

That kind of collision is pretty much the definition of a racing incident. The fact Raikkonen was so caught out is the brilliance at the heart of the Rosberg pass.

Good point  It's not a great line if you run into another driver on the track. And I'm not so sure Kimi didn't see him. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he turned in the way he did - sharper turn in to cut off the pass attempt.

If u see a replay when they touched Nico was already ahead of Kimi. He was asleep and left the door open. It was Nico's rear wheel that hit Kimi. Done.

Actually he plowed into Kimi's front wing first with his front wheel.

Wasn't expecting the Dutch teen to retire. RB rarely have reliability issues. Also can't belive the pit issue at ferrari.

Was glad to see Hamilton win. As for Ferrari, I think we can both agree there will be changes in the off season.

Almost 900meters to Turn 1. Slip-streaming will be huge. He may get away but he can be run down and passed. Its goin to be a great start....potentially. Red Bull is on the supersoft and Mercedes on the soft. If its warm they will have more grip. Its about the wheel-spin at the start!

xxAGAVExx 10-29-2016 07:10 PM

Yep the supersofts didn't play out as good as RB hoped last weekend, but like u said it's a long way to turn 1, it's certainly possible, can't wait

Can't wait to hear who will fill the open seat at Mercedes. Those cars have an edge. Vettel would want a shot given his frustration. Don't think it'll happen but imagine if Hamilton left as well. He's still pissed.

JARblue 12-02-2016 09:17 AM

Wow

BlackZeda 12-02-2016 09:53 AM

It is a shame that every race couldn't be like Abu Dhabi. Nico can suck it!

alcheng 12-02-2016 11:31 AM

with all the top drivers already contracted... it's difficult for mercedes to have two front runners next season, thus it's going to hurt pretty bad on their constructor title, thus the constructor title is most likely to be a fight between ferrari and red bull.

also, whoever get the seat at mercedes next season, he's gonna spend the whole season under the pressure and shadow of hamilton, and hamilton is going to be even more cocky than he is right not since he is the obvious #1 driver in the team...

in one way, i think it is a good thing because mercedes is not going to be as dominant as they are currently.

From this link - https://joesaward.wordpress.com/2016...os-retirement/

Most of us spend our lives on the treadmill, running along like hamsters in their wheels, keeping the banks happy. We cannot just walk away and live happily ever after. We dream about it.

We also know that very few can drift along doing nothing. We need goals and targets, just as we need families. One can survive with greed, ambition and party girls, but they feel like pretty hollow motivations when you watch your children grow up and when you share your life with a special partner. Nico is a man who knows what he wants and also understands his limitations. He has achieved his goal and once is enough. Doing it again is of little interest. He’s not running away. He’s not a coward, nor frightened. He just doesn’t need it any more and we should respect that and respect his desire to enjoy time with his wife, Vivian, and their young daughter Alaļa.

No LH didnt put the work in this year. Bad starts and bad races. Baku comes to mind and he was pissed at the team as to how they handled the incident in Spain. This was the year LH beat himself by not working hard enough. Period.
His lack of preparation was magnified by his own bad luck with the car. Nico suffered the same in the past.

it's the fact of if he wants to be a #2 at mercedes and stamped by hamilton a big time...

or if he wants to be positioned as the #1/priority driver @ williams and get all the respect that he deserved to have.

the thing is, unless he is a Vettel or Alonso, otherwise he won't be able to fight for the DC against hamilton even they both in the same car. thus he'll be like another rosberg...

Valteri might just surprise us all. The boy is smooth and has done an amazing job defending against faster cars the last 2 years. I wont under estimate him just yet. We do not know how he will adapt at Mercedes yet.

he is a fast driver, I do agree, I just feel bad if he goes to mercedes because I am pretty sure mercedes always put hamilton as #1, and hamilton himself is such a selfish whining kid.

unless, if he beats hamilton a big time at the first race, then things might change.

I do hope someone, driving mercedes or whatever, can beat hamilton a big time though.
