Nice drive in W Arkansas

Drove up to Waldron, AR to help a friend from MO pick up a 1975 Camaro this weekend. The drive was wonderful. Starting from Camden, you find a road that winds through the Ouachita River bottoms. It starts getting hilly about the time you get to Arkadelphia and you're in the mountains before you get to Glenwood. Roads are not in 5-star shape, but quite good in most places - nothing that required evasive maneuvers.

Sounds like you a had a nice drive through there and of course the car to do it in.
I lived Fayetteville for 2yrs, drove a lot of nice curvy roads in NW arkansas in my Maxima at the time. I'll be up there this weekend in the Z so I'll have to have a little fun.

The car was on rails. The most difficult part of the trip was keeping the speed down on the long straights. ;)

I hope to visit my friend near Branson this Summer and plan on taking the scenic route. :driving:

Whenever I go to Branson(Zfest) I go hwy 7 thru the national park(Harrison to Russelville). Nice roads and gets this swamp dweller in the mood for some mountain time! Going again this year.

My grandparents lived in Russellville and in the '60s we used to take 7 between there and El Dorado. I don't know if it's still there (probably not) but we would stop at a little road-side diner called, IIRC, Sam & Ann's. I'll be looking for it on the trip to MO.

I was in Arkansas again this past weekend. I forget about the elevation of Fayetteville area. I'm so used to driving the Z around flat Dallas with my skip shifts 1,2,4,6 or just going thru the gears at around 2krpm.

Took me a second to remember I can't do that kind of shfting with the hills there, had to hold the gears a little longer.

They are the "standard" 2-lane-county/state-road width, whatever that is. There are a few places where two semis meeting might get a little tight and there's not much shoulder in quite a few places, but a small car or bike shouldn't have any worries. You can use the street view in Google Maps to get a better idea.

Welcome to The Land Of Opportunity. Regnat populus! :)

Any good or well known modifying/tuner shops up there or close by that can do installs or sell packages for all sorts of sport cars?

I dunno. I'm only about a dozen miles from Louisiana and don't get to LR very often (I get my Z serviced in Monroe, LA). I've noticed that there are several Z owners in the LR area (LR, Conway, Jacksonville, Maumelle, &c) so maybe someone will pipe up.

There are not any tune shops in the central Arkansas area. Its a shame really but to get a tune and hop on a dyno you would have to go to tx, la, mo, or ok

If any of you guys get the chance the Pig Trail is an awesome road to take if you want twisties. I take it on my way home on the weekends and have shot several go pro videos of it. Extremely fun road!
