For those who have not participated in previous ZATTACKs, we promise a fun filled two days for Z car enthusiasts, Nissan fans and gear heads in general. This is also a great opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of Music City USA, Nashville, Tennessee. The events begin Friday afternoon, April 13 at 2 pm with a group tram tour of the Nissan manufacturing facility in Smyrna, TN, which produces the Altima, Maxima, Xterra, Frontier and Pathfinder. The Nissan Company Store offers a great selection of shirts, caps and other licensed Nissan items at employee prices after the tour. Tours are limited to 50 people, so please register early. Friday evening the Middle Tennessee Z Club will host a catered BBQ dinner and exclusive private tour at the Lane Motor Museum (http://lanemotormuseum.org/) in Nashville from 6:30 – 9 pm. The museum houses part of the Nissan Heritage Collection, most of which is not normally available for public viewing, in addition to their eclectic collection of 150+ mainly European automobiles, motorcycles and oddities. Space is limited for this private event, so please register early. The ZATTACK 2012 People’s Choice Z Car Show will be Saturday, April 14 from 8 am to 3 pm in Franklin, TN at the Nissan Americas building, the U.S. corporate headquarters for Nissan North America, Inc. This is a Z only show. All registered ZATTACK entrants receive a ballot to vote for the award winners. Awards are given for all six generations of Z cars in both Stock and Modified classes, as well as awards for Best in Show, and Diamond in the Rough. Your Z car does not have to be a “show car” to enter. This is more about the people, participating and fun. We will also have raffles for products and services donated by our sponsors. As part of the event, Nissan will also host an employee open house for their corporate and manufacturing personnel from Franklin headquarters and in Smyrna and Decherd Tennessee, and cruise-in for employees and the public to exhibit their cars which is open to all makes and models. We expect a huge turnout for this, and based on past events, the variety of cars will be fantastic. In addition, Nissan will have an exhibit of new models, prototypes, show cars and Nissan Heritage Collection vehicles based on availability and corporate approval for public showing. Spectators are welcome. There is plenty of parking available. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, we will move the show into the parking garage. The Nissan Americas building will be open during the event for morning coffee, lunch in the dining room at The Grill, rest room facilities, and the on-site Nissan Company Store will offer a great selection of licensed Nissan and Infiniti merchandise for sale. In order to give back to the community, we will be collecting cash and non-perishable food donations and the proceeds from designated raffle items will go to the Nissan-sponsored Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, which fights hunger in 46 counties. Each dollar donated provides 4 meals! After the show,we will have a few hours of free time, and that evening, those who wish to will meet at the Athletic Club Sports Bar and Grill at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Franklin, which is near the Nissan Americas building for dinner, and to meet up with friends old and new. (2) 370Z's (one 40th Anniversary) Registered from Louisiana!!! :driving:
|
That's great.
When I registered about the middle of last week I was told that there were 9 370s registered; I don't know if that included mine or not...anyway; I think the 370s will be pretty well represented in 2012. :) |
Nine 370Zs are registered as of today. 6 in Stock Class, 3 in Modified, including both Louisiana entries.
And the event is still 2 1/2 months away!!!! The Nissan Smyrna plant tour is filling up fast. We are trying to add another group. |
NOTICE:
THE 2 PM FRIDAY NISSAN SMYRNA PLANT TOUR IS SOLD OUT! We have added a second tour that begins at 1 PM at the plant. We will have a group leave from the Embassy Suites in Franklin at noon for the 1 PM tour, or you can meet us at the plant around 12:45. The tours start promptly and on time. |
We have lined up some great raffles and prizes from our sponsors for the event.
Z1 Motorsports has stepped up as usual (thanks Russell) as a sponsor and is planning to set up a display, and another vendor is bringing a 950 hp GT-R. |

Everything is right on schedule and shaping up very nicely.
We have 80 cars registered (a record for us at this point), and our sponsors have really sent us some really great stuff for raffles and giveaways. We're placing the t-shirt order next Monday, the event information went out to 7,000 or so Nissan employees over the last week or two, and everything is pretty much done as we get ready for the event. You'll get an email from us about a week before with a few minor revisions, reminders and updates. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday, April 13! |

We are now at 97 cars entered in the show, which is a new record for ZATTACK.
We'll send out a brief update to the entrants in the next several days. Thanks to everyone who is coming and to the sponsors and Nissan. We are ready... the shirts and awards will be ready early next week. |

Awesome event...
hey, it's Mike Cure. wanted to thank everyone from the tennessee crew and Nissan for a great event and we will definitely keep up with the ZAttack in the future. this is definitely the way to host an event.
I would like to personally thank Clark and Sam for the show of southern hospitality that they went above and beyond to provide. After driving from New Orleans through the Tail of the Dragon and Devil's Triangle, myself and Paul C. had collected quite an assortment of bugs and dirt on our 370s. When at the Lane Museum i happened to ask Clark (never met the guy before) about a car wash place, he called a friend of his, Sam, who actually met us at our hotel and guided us to his home to allow us to wash our cars that night. not only that, but he brought out buckets, towels, cleaning supplies...true southern hospitality. I do not know how to thank them enough. Clark and Sam, if you ever come down to New Orleans, Hurricanes and Beignets on me. Mike C. |

So where's all the pics and video? I was hosting a Challenger event out at Beech Bend Raceway and had to miss this one, but wanna attend next year for sure so lemme know the dates so my event doesn't conflict. We've got pics and vids all over youtube from Challengerfest, where's the ones from this!!!

ZAttack 2012, pics inside P4141138_1024x768_ - Classic Zcar Club Photo Gallery I'd like to know if there is any video. I wouldn't know how to do that either. |
Cool, thanks for the links. Yeah running an event is hectic huh? I had a car show Friday night and drag racing all day Saturday. Talk about busy. Had 100 cars running on the strip, 200+ spectators, then all the vendors to get setup, food guy etc.
Lemme know ASAP on date for next year. I'm already getting people wanting to know the date for ChallengerFest4 so I gotta get that nailed down early. |
At this point, it would be questionable whether we do it again next year. This was our 9th show since the club started in 1999, so we don't always do one every year.
As it is such a huge undertaking (we started in October last year), and given the fact that I've been intimately involved in all of them, I would like to see some fresh volunteers from the club step up. However, the commitment required to do it is almost all encompassing to where it could effect your "real" job, wife and kids, etc.. Thankfully, I have the time, my wife puts in long hours, my daughter's at school, and I have the time, but so soon after, not the desire. We'll see. |
I can understand that. This was our 3rd year for ChallengerFest. I ran it last year (doubled the size over the first) and this year (50% larger than last year). I bet I had over 200 hours of work in it this year and started in November.
Definitely not for the faint of heart. After last year I swore I wouldn't do it again, but all the forum members talked me in to it. I got a committee and delegated this year. The first year I did it alone and had 400+ hours of work in. It was just too much. PLUS I was trying to move houses. NIGHTMARE! The race track nearly flooded as well and I have folks come as far as 1,000 miles away asking me about the weather and all that. Stress city. I'm single and no kids, so I have time to mess with this stuff. |
Here is a great article with pics from Autoweek: Zattack 2012: The return of the Z cars to Nissan HQ in Nashville - Autoweek
