Angeles Cruise

So it looks like I don';t have much to do on Memorial Day so I think I may go for a nice drive on Angeles Crest highway. Anyone have any suggestions or tips like where or when to be on the lookout for cops, or nice scenic spots to stop? Any places to eat?

The only thing I could advise is to get up early before the bikers and slow pokes show up.

And by all means watch your speed if you going up on Angeles Crest. CHP likes to pop folks going up and down :shakes head:

Or I might do Osborne which I missed a few weeks ago. Just looking for tips for a nice drive on Monday since it's a holiday.

brucelidat 05-22-2012 12:51 AM

how early is that?

I would shoot for around 8-8:30am and grab breakfast afterwards :)

I haven't been up Osborne in ages

hmmm, less cops on Osborne or Glendora Mountain Road? I'll be in the SGV over the weekend so they're all aboutt he same distance from me.

Angeles Crest has a 25mph speedlimit on the way down, that's impossible to maintain and the day that we were there the CHP were out in FULL FORCE

Either go very, very early or late at night. Do not go during the day

Got it. If I wake up really early, Angeles Crest. If not, GMR or Osborne (Tujunga Canyon Road).

GMR is just as bad for cops. They even have guys going up and down via 4x4 trucks at 60+ MPH and daisy chain waits.

Even though we were driving under 25mph with CHP escort, there were a few of us go pulled over for no front plate or having GPS on the windshield :shakes head:.

oh man, that sounds really bad

Yep. I would get there before 7am to aviod popo. Do not post the time and date on public forum when you want to do the run there.
