No cops, just pure driving bliss can be found in Ojai. There doesn't seem to be much interest though, maybe a Malibu run for September and Ojai in October?

xdeslitx 08-28-2011 05:05 PM

great pics Z

brucelidat 08-28-2011 05:13 PM

Really, don't have to worry about cops in Ojai? I already lost my good driver insurance discount for a stupid reason with my 3.5 Altima just before i go the Z and am always worried about tickets. Was wondering if there was a nice place where I could have some fun without worrying about cops (other than the track) Lots of twisties in Ojai? How about straights? Are you referring to Los Padres National Forest?

Thats Gods country and no one's going to bother up their. :)

brucelidat 08-28-2011 05:25 PM

Nice! I am sold, going to get my friend with his Speed3, maybe my other friend with a Z and see if they want to head out over there when work dies down a bit. Any recommendations? Or juts roll out to Los Padres NP and have at it?

I'd recommend an oil cooler if you're going to push? Do it early to beat the heat and be careful of the critters. I took some out the last time up there. Lol

We are planning a run up their if there's enough interest? but not a whole caravan since it's nicer to be in a smaller group, less hassle of keep everyone together.

brucelidat 08-28-2011 05:32 PM

So I noticed there's a 19 row and a 25 row cooler. Would the 19 be more than enough for me (normal driving, a little fun sometimes, possible the rare track appearance in the future) or should I get the 25 row? Would that be overkill and wasted money for me?

zero 08-28-2011 05:32 PM

Nice photos, Zohrab

I'm running a 34 and I'm pretty happy since I do a lot of Canyon runs.
But for a once in a big while cruise? a 25 should be fine.

brucelidat 08-28-2011 05:39 PM

Cool, thanks. I'll get the 25. I'll wait until after I go on vacation in October and my wallet is thinner to see if I still have the mod bug for performance mods. I think a good canyon run stock would give me a good feel for whether or not I really do need any performance mods also.

BTW, are there normally a lot of cops up in Angeles Crest or did they just follow you guys up there because they saw a big line of sports cars headed that way?

Yes and especially on the weekend :(

So be careful

Not to confuse you even more but there's also a 34 Row GTM cooler...you should really read one of probably 50 other threads specifically about this topic, it'll help you make a better decision.

Damn, Angeles Crest is really close to me. Was hoping it could be a nice little driving getaway. ojai is almost 2 hours away, haha.

Police activity should die down in a few months. If it's really close to you I suggest weekday mornings or weekdays after 8pm. I've been running Angeles Crest for close to 8 years now and haven't gotten a ticket once *knock on wood* but some recent tragic events have really heightened CHP activity.

Also, it helps if you don't give them an excuse to pull you over and you stay within 5 mph of the speed limit which is at times 55 mph.

Z_ealot 08-28-2011 06:48 PM

wish i could have made this, but alas i am a poor person at the moment until this wednesday when i get paid lol, would have been nice to see a blue Z in those pics though. On a side note and not meaning to thread jack here, but i noticed a few days after i got my Z that there is some light scuffs in the clearcoat and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to clear them up with not to much fuss?

Jamaica 08-28-2011 07:07 PM

I have the 25 Stillen cooler and I've never broke 220 degrees, even with Trips on my ***.
