Changes Coming to the Canyons

It was bound to happen, I'm just glad they didn't get too carried away...

Wow!! Interesting dj :ugh:

I honestly don't mind these, I am always worried not that I will lose control but that some moron will be over the center line around a blind turn and that would be game over. But I feel like if they already have those raised reflectors, isn't that doing the same job as the rumble strips?

And yeah, motorcyclists never cross the yellow line.

Quote:

“It’s not gonna stop ‘em,” agreed Malibu photographer Paul Herold. “It’ll discourage the bikes, but the bikes aren’t crossing the double yellow anyway—anybody on two wheels up here will tell you that the first rule of canyon riding is to never cross the double yellow. The cars, though—the cars aren’t gonna slow down.”

I think its a 'quick fix' to a problem they aren't sure how to solve...

Will it help? Maybe... but probably not to the extent they want it to.

As for 4 wheels vehicles, as long as you maintain your own lane, then you will be unaffected... If you're stupid enough to change lanes, then bump stops aren't going to stop or save you in the event you realize it was a bad idea...

You can't stop stupid. :ugh2:

They are blowing over 400k on this... and it won't do much as far as I can tell.
I think Cali could use the money for better things right now.

^Yeah, no kidding.

It will for sure keep SQUID bikers from crossing the double yellow in the middle of blind turn ON PURPOSE, the accidental came in too hot crossings will hopefully be reduced too. I don't think it's going to impact speed though. If it manages to keep people in their lane, I'm not so mad at it. Just not sure it's going to do too much of that. Always see Subaru's and Mustangs coming across the middle in turns out there and I'm not convinced it will stop them as much as it will just give them a better idea of exactly where their wheels are. We'll see I guess.

Very true Diori, they are highly annoying if deep enough though so that might provide incentive to keep them off the center line too.

This doesn't bother me other than a possible waste of money. I hate it when people don't stay in the lines on curvey/mountain roads so if this really works I say just as well.

Milenko2121 02-12-2011 12:20 PM

meh, i'm always in my lane anyway. this won't bother me at all.
