I know haha, I was trying to best to avoid using the air con to keep drag off the engine but I said forget it after I started feeling like I was roasting. My car said it was 85 degrees before we stopped for gas, it certainly felt it.

Yeah, I said that he has got the ride height down but he might need to work on his wheel fitment haha. It might have been better in different circumstances.

I believe Forgestars are in Nelson's future. :yum:

Pictures

Here are my pictures of the day, I didn't take too many but there are some nice shots that came out. My videos might take a while due to their size and some editing I am going to do but I aim to have the first one uploading to youtube tonight. I regret not pulling over to snap a picture of the sun rise, it was gorgeous.

Hope you enjoy!

Nice Pics :)

Kenny 01-16-2011 04:41 AM

Just got home about 30 mins ago. I drove about ~230 miles today from Alhambra, to Glendora, to Malibu, back to Alhambra, to Orange, back to Glendora, then home. Break-in period is done.

I missed you guys since I didn't actually get out of bed until 9:00 am and didn't arrive in Malibu until 12:00 pm. I spent a good portion of the day at the Getty Villa and didn't actually do any canyon driving until 5:00pm when the sun was about setting. I made a stop at Neptune's Net for some seafood, but the place smelled really gross so I left. I drove all of Latigo and took the 101 back.

My oil temps reached upwards of 230-240 and that got me a bit nervous during my spirited driving. I turned off the AC and started venting hot air immediately. The oil temps dropped to around 210-220 after 15 mins of venting. I'm definitely installing an oil cooler in the spring.

I'll catch you guys another time. I love canyon driving.

Dude, I already ordered my wheels a month ago. Zero know this. lol. Good thing the wheels got delayed. If they weren't, they would have be damaged.

What happened?

Thanks for the vid, but gosh, it seems super slow on video. Pretty unfamiliar with that stretch so it hides my poor driving too lol.

You did pretty good :)

I know, it does doesn't it! I was driving at 90% and the video barely shows haha. The only time I seriously was trying to follow you and Vic was going down Mulholland and Westlake and you guys were slowly gaining distance on me. Not to mention I was worried about my brakes, they were smoking when we got to the bottom of Mulholland haha.

I feel my tires are limiting right now, I wouldn't feel comfortable pushing much harder than I was in my part 2 video and the last 1/3 of my part 3 video I am about to post on the street.

sensi09 01-16-2011 10:36 PM

Nice vids Chris. That section going towards the 101 is one of my favorites. Smooth paved roads and fun corners bunched together.

The car felt a little to big for this section though. The smaller Z is a bit more agile and is a little more fun during this stretch.

Just from browsing youtube vids, I think a camera mounted between the seats or a camera seat mount offers a nice vantage point while showing the speed somewhat accurately.

Oh and what tires are you running?

christian370z 01-16-2011 10:48 PM

I want to try that perspective, I just wussed out this time and left it in that spot. I am running the Yoko Advan sports that come on the base wheels, 225 front 245 rear. I feel that even the 19" Rays and Bridgestones would offer much more grip, but I know I still have a lot to learn about the car's handling so it is not just the tires at their max; it is also me as a driver.

It is a really good feeling when the more you drive, the higher your limits are as a driver become.

sensi09 01-16-2011 10:54 PM

Those tires rather comparable, so I wouldn't bother unless your tires are already going bald.

Might consider some RE-11s. Definitely more grip and I actually got similar treadwear as the bridgestones that come stock on the 19" rays.

Looks like you guys had fun

Let us know about Vegas track. I might sign up with EXTREMESPEEDTRACKEVENTS.COM. They are tracking at Willow Springs and the price seems to be pretty good.

Ojai Dates

Alrighty, with the Malibu run behind us it is now time to look forward to our epic Ojai Run! I want to start off by deciding on the month; the two options would be either February or March at this point, so please post which month would work best for you.

Once most of you guys have chimed in, I will throw out the possible dates within the chosen month to vote for. Thanks guys!

christian370z 01-21-2011 06:55 PM

Wow, no one?

sensi09 01-21-2011 08:12 PM

Just post a date.....the sooner the better.

yes ojai...I have been waiting for!. What date my friend?

christian370z 01-22-2011 03:03 PM

Ojai Dates

Alright guys, I have decided to move it to March in order to allow for warm weather to make sure there are no adverse road conditions we might need to deal with sooner. Also, it will allow some of us to get our cars read (oil coolers etc.).

So, here are three possible dates:

-March 12th
-March 19th
-March 26th

xdeslitx 01-22-2011 03:11 PM

anytime is fine with me

Trips 01-22-2011 04:00 PM

same here

Kenny 01-22-2011 04:32 PM

This could be interesting, I'm down to roll.

March 12 is the weekend before finals week and March 26 is the weekend before the start of spring quarter. March 19 works the best for me because I'll be on spring break.

christian370z 01-23-2011 12:25 AM

Tentatively, let's figure on March 19th as the date for the Ojai Cruise. This can always be adjusted but now we have something concrete to plan on! Also, I think I might skip out on a cruise for February in preparation for this run so I'm not sure if you all still want to meet up in February for a run at some point.

Trips 01-23-2011 12:26 AM

I'm fine for March Chris :tiphat:

Jamaica 01-23-2011 12:51 AM

March is good!

christian370z 01-23-2011 01:13 AM

Yay!

Super Red Z 01-24-2011 09:02 PM

I might be very new to ask....but what is Ojai cruise

Trips 01-24-2011 09:06 PM

Ojai is just on the edge of the Los Padres National forest. Gods Country :)

We normally drive up hwy 33 from the 101
