i guess it will do the job for now:tup:

You will even be able to use it for some autox events but you would have to check with the director at the event. Glad to hear you did not have to spend to much.

See ya at Carls Jr.

tru_Asiatik 04-29-2010 10:52 PM

is 545 late?? ive been reading on other car forums thatgate gets packed even b4 6am....is this true?

Tresfr 04-29-2010 11:13 PM

My experience

I am not a drag racer but I have been to the Cali Street Legals 3 times in the last 2 years or so. My experience is if you get to the gate at 6:00 you will get in before they reach their maximum. One time I arrived at 6:50 and they were full.

When we posted the schedule it stated to be at Carl's between 5:30 and 5:45. This means we roll in group up and roll out within 5-10 minutes. We will be leaving Carl's at 5:45 not meeting up at 5:45 hanging out and comparing rides. We will have all day to do that. If we keep to this plan I am confident that we will be good to go.

If someone thinks or knows otherwise please chime in but this has been my experience.

Post here if you are going to go so some of us meet you at the Carls Jr. in Fontana.

:D Agreed on the temps, but I meant stress on the tranny and clutch, since I will be pulling uphill on Streets (we're running clockwise on Sunday) for a few 20 minute sessions. Maybe I'll just take it easy and make 2-3 passes then.

If I can make it look for me at Carls Jr. a little after 5:30. I have the graphite car that's a little lowered with a Berk exhaust, otherwise stock, hopefully not too hard to miss.

OMGWTFBBQ 04-30-2010 12:21 PM

My name is Derek.

My username on here was supposed to be OMGWTFBBQIMDEREK like it is on every other car forum I'm on, but for some reason it wouldn't fit on here. Find me on AIM if anyone ever wants to chat haha.

Tresfr 04-30-2010 02:27 PM

Name / Username

My username Tresfr stems from when I used to be a sponsored RC Touring Car Racer. Tresfr is Team Really Extra Super Fast Racing. We once had to do a charity 4 hour rc enduro and thats what we called our team. I have no idea why I sometimes still use it as a username.

See you guys tomorrow,
oh yeah real name (Mark)

3rd pass: plenty of wheelspin/hop my best time 14.8

i know i can do better....waaaayyy better
and then i realize on the way home i was freakin shifting like i would on the streets...off gas/clutch shift let go of clutch gas....dumb lol

i guess i was thinking to much......maybe next time or i should just stick to the canyons(im better at that :P)

there were plenty of 12 sec cars there

I Run L.A. 05-01-2010 06:59 PM

launching a manual z is not as easy as it looks(ask minicobra) and doesnt help if all eyes on the stands are on you and your up against a 10 sec car hahahahaha

Track Day

Decent day at the track. The temp in Fontana was hotter than I thought it would be today at about 80 degrees. The bite was fair but not great.

I was happy to get a solid baseline with my 7AT while it was completely stock.

13.3 @ 105 - 2.08 60 foot

13.4 @ 106 - 2.10 60 foot

If the temp was 70 degrees when I made my best pass I think my car would have reached its maximum potential which I feel would be.

13.2 @ 107 - 2.00 60 foot

I feel good about the 370 because my friend who went with me who has a lot a drag race experience has a 2010 SS Camaro Auto with intake and exhaust and he ran a 13.5 @ 105 with a solid 60 foot 2 passes in a row. There was another SS Camaro and it also ran 13.4 at 106.

I am installing a CBE at Amplified on Tuesday but I think I will stop there until there is a really good tune which may not come around for many months. It seems air mods especially on warm days don't make these cars faster and when you add long staging lines and warm weather may even slow them down. I also wonder if one air mod equals 15HP 7TQ and 2 air mods equal 18hp with a loss of torque.

Next time we need more than three 370's to come out. I know drag racing is not that great but we had myself and MiniCobra, My friends tuned Mustang Gt and the others SS Camaro all running between 13.3 and 13.7 which made for some fun grudge matches and pit conversation. You can even request to race against a friend. If we get more people in the future this could make things interesting.

Braden and Marco you owe me a rep point, thought I would forget.

klubbheads 05-02-2010 05:20 AM

^Those are solid numbers. Good job. 7ATs are quick. I will probably go to the next one which most likely be in over before winter. At that time i should have way over 5k miles.

tru_Asiatik 05-02-2010 10:04 AM

Yes, next time more of you guys need to come out, looks easy, but getting the perfect launch is very difficult. I'm sure I can knock more then a .50 second off my time if I can nail it. :-)

My first run ever, launched at 4000rpm (big mistake) roasted the tires through 1st and second gear, felt like my clutch broke, so I drove the rest of the way slowly, didn't even pick up my time slip. LOL

2nd run 13.68 @ 103 2.25 60ft
3rd run timing failed (let me run again) sucks, because this one felt good.
4th run 14.1@102.5 2.39 60ft

It was great fun, learned a lot, can't wait to do it again, and get those 60ft times down :-)

Mark, you do have a rep point coming

Yeah, sorry I missed this, but next time! I had too much to do and then had to get to Streets for a track day on Sunday. I'll post up a video on another thread. You guys will be happy to know that on street tires, with just a Berk CBE and H&R Sport Springs, the car did a 1:29.5 in midday heat and passed about 9 cars in the session, including a couple of Z06 Corvettes. I know, I know, maybe they didn't know the track as well, but that's still pretty decent for a street car. Kudos to the 370!

I watched the video and that was a great session. Your fast lap was only 7 tenths off the motortrend test driver. No wonder you were catching the red Exige and Cayman S. The 370Z beat the Cayman S by a half second a lap in a comparo at Streets.

What oil cooler are you running ? My car is only 3 weeks old and ran good at the dragstrip and next I will probably autox it but after that I will need an oil cooler before I run some track day laps.

We will probably get another group together next time the Street Legals are at Fontana. The only problem is the next one the temps might be to high to get a good E.T.

Thanks man! I have the Stillen 25 Row Race Oil Cooler. If you're getting one, go through Scott Vanderheide at Fontana Nissan (Motorsports Division Manager) and request that Chris Heimburg (Special Technician) install it for you.
