Yup they raised all the registration fees and the sales tax here in L.A is now 9.75 percent and in some places its even more. I heard in Pico it's over 10 percent. That's insane isn't it.

I only pay about $75 for 2 years in CT

But it all evens out, they get you in other ways, lads; this is the tax-you-to-death state. I pay a nice hefty property tax on the vehicle.
