Any chance just the 3 of us getting together?
Maybe starting the nucleus of a Tennessee Valley Z Club?
Or inviting any other Z Owners we might know.
Maybe someone who doesn't own a PW.;)

speedfreek 08-16-2013 08:27 AM

I have been kicking around this idea of starting a group in Huntsville/North Alabama of G and Z owners who are actually enthusiasts and active in the commmuntiy as far as actually going to events, etc. Seems everyone got a PW after me :stirthepot:. If there were already 2 in the group I would of gotten the Gun Metallic instead which wouldn't of helped you other than mine being a '12 and you having those fancy driving lights. Doesn't help I converted them all over to Fast Intentions which is the only way to go for exhaust on the 370 IMO. One of my friends has an '11 PW who will be attending tonights dinner/meet/hard park event. Then ZBro over there had a 40th which pains me to see him in a PW when the 40th was my favorite color and would have searched harder for one if he didn't already have one but I digress. You gotta do what you gotta do. I love my PW now that I have it. Since everyone has a PW in Huntsville we have kicked around the idea of starting a PW club only but that won't help out others who are in the wrong color for that.

MadMan 08-16-2013 09:13 AM

Let's stop kicking the idea around and start feeding it.
I've only been in my Z for a few months & don't really know anybody in the community, but it sounds like you have some contacts.
Put the Word on the streets & let's get the ball rolling.
What you say?

speedfreek 08-16-2013 11:40 AM

Right now the group would be very small but I guess that isn't necessarily a bad thing and can grow it over time. Probably start out with about 5. The biggest events are ZdayZ and Z Nats which BamaGZ attends each year. They also do a BBQ in the summer as well as some of the local shows around the Bham area. What I envision is a group who are enthusiasts in the area who enjoy modding their ride and attending the events catered to the community.

Here is what I propose for first official unofficial meet for the local G/Z people. I have two ideas one of which can be date to be determined.

1. Cruise up to Nashville for the Cars n Coffee Sept. 7. (straight shot unlike last time for those that remember last year).

2. Cruise on some nice twisty roads up to the Tims Ford or Lynchburg, TN. We can set a date where all or at least most involved can attend this fall.

So MadMan, Zbro16, gSwift what say you? Want to get this going? I will extend the invite to BamaGZ and see if any of them would like to come up for either.

jburke26 08-16-2013 02:47 PM

Thanks for the heads up Speedfreak! I did not realize this thread was here! I would like to get together as I do not know anyone with a Z or a G for that matter.

Unfortunately I am going to be pretty busy on the weekends the next month or so but I would be glad to try and make some meets when I can.

MadMan 08-16-2013 04:11 PM

Sept. 7 is no good for me.
And I see we are now tied up at 2 - 2.
The PW to GM ratio must be maintained.
There is a balance in the Force.
Surely, (I know, quit calling you Shirley) someone around here must have bought a Z in a color other than White or Grey.

jburke26 08-16-2013 05:06 PM

lol the only other Z I have seen around town more than once was a yellow one :yum:

I did see a 40th the other day and gave him a thumbs up out the window.

callmepepito0 08-17-2013 11:05 AM

I went to the Nissan meet last night, had a blast so I am definitely wanting to get more active in this type of community. I was a shut in for the entire time I owned my 350z, and meeting new people has always been a bit awkward for me.

But as learned last night there is so much learn from other car owners, I really feel like I missed out on some super fun experiences by being shy. And of course, I love talking about cars but really don't have many friends, yet, that have that same love.

So I'm Larry and I would love to be a part of the G/Z club, if you guys will have me.

speedfreek 08-17-2013 01:09 PM

Welcome Larry. More G/Z's are always welcome. Glad you had fun at the Nissan meet.

Still waiting on the others to chime in. So far no one can make the Sept. 7 date. I am still likely to make the drive up to the Nashville Cars n Coffee (weather permitting) that day as Bama is off that weekend. Anyone that can make it is welcome to cruise up.

Next up is for those going to Z Nationals October 4-6. I hope most of you will join us this year. BamaGZ will be representing as always. I know Madman is ready to go! These events are what it is all about.

After that I am looking to plan a late fall cruise late October/ early November timeframe. This time of the year its harder on Saturdays to work around everyone's football preferences.

Most important is feedback.

callmepepito0 08-17-2013 02:32 PM

I work from 8am to 4pm on Saturdays so I cannot make the 7th. I can't really say if I will be able to make Z Nationals either at current due to the way my company works weekends and vacations. If I am lucky I might be able to make it, I think it would be a fun trip.

But I am very interested in things I can make around my work and Bama football games...

MadMan 08-17-2013 04:28 PM

Welcome, pepito0!
As the "old man" of the group, I am working around Bama Football & U14 Girls soccer.
With a Nismo I don't think you are as big a introvert as you think you are.;)
Glad to have you aboard.

Parkerman 08-18-2013 11:05 AM

What kind of nonsense is this?!?

Quit posting in the Huntsville thread... It keeps sending me emails! The nerve of you people...

My problem generally is that I'm always pretty busy... I pretty much quit going to the little meet up things.

Little embarrassed to show up somewhere with my car at the moment... Like to keep a distance... My front bumper has yet to be fixed from when I hit a raccoon [though I did pull the dint out, you just see a crack/break if you get up close]. Then when they were repaving the parkway a rock hit the windshield and I've yet to get that crack fixed.

I also have 81k miles now.... *sigh*

ZBro16 08-18-2013 03:22 PM

I'm totally shot for the month of September. But I'm down with the idea of a Z meet. I also like the idea of incorporating some actual driving into the idea. Cars and Coffee is awesome in Nashville.

Getting a group to cruise to Z Nats would be cool but I can't commit to that yet either. I will likely only be good for the one day on Saturday there.

speedfreek 08-18-2013 09:16 PM

Parker. Get that thing fixed and attend some of these events!

Why not just park at a distance, and bring my camera?

And not allow anyone to look closely at my car... Hah.

Been trying to free up the money to get a new bumper and have it painted... I've gotta see how much my guy will charge me to have it painted... He kinda owes me a favor so who knows.

And on the side I'm trying to get the old SRT back into running condition so I'm not putting sooo many miles on the Z.

gSwift 08-19-2013 01:15 AM

Hey everyone :tiphat: sorry I'm late to the party. Just found this thing. Larry, glad you made it over to the forum, and glad to have you in the community. Oh and clean Nismo BTW.

MadMan 08-19-2013 05:47 AM

By my count there's now 7 Forum Members checking in from the Huntsville/North Alabama Area.
Not a bad start!

That would work. If I was having to replace my bumper I would look closer at switching to Amuse, Fujimara, Stillen. The first two you can get reps so more in line with the price of the Stillen front bumper. I figure you are spending around $500 for a stock replacement?

Replacement is like $300 I think. My problem with getting a different front bumper like that is not much is done to my car, so I don't want people to think there is more done to it by having a different front bumper.

In the end I would probably just like to get a lip.

*edit*
Also my job is a bit uncertain lately so that has also been holding me back on some stuff.

speedfreek 08-19-2013 03:51 PM

Well if the OEM is that cheap then that would be best bet especially if money is tight or could become tight at the moment.

Next up:
Z Nationals Oct 4-6.

Who is available Nov. 2 and wants to cruise up for the Nashville Cars n Coffee? This will be a striaight shot up and back on 65.

I see what you did there... It's a bye week... lol.

What time would we be leaving out for Cars and Coffee? I've been wanting to go.

speedfreek 08-19-2013 05:07 PM

Yep same weekend I hit last year. We would leave out early Saturday morning. When I say early I mean 7am or so. Some of the exotics are known to be there bright and early and do not hang around til noon to be seen. Takes about an hour to get up there.

That sounds pretty good, Should be able to count me in on that.

ZBro16 08-20-2013 08:55 AM

I'm in for November 2 C&C.

gSwift 08-20-2013 02:59 PM

I shipped a rear bumper on my 350z for about 100 I think.

derraj06 08-20-2013 09:45 PM

I'm late to the party again but I want to come out as well. They do cars and coffee in Knoxville as well. Could hit the dragon afterwards. Work is killing me so I'm not checking this thread as often as I'd like.

Btw ZBro. You can install that exhaust without needing spacers on the cross bar.

ZBro16 08-21-2013 08:39 AM

very nice. you get everything installed? pics!

every car is indeed different as they say I guess. I couldn't find another way around it.

derraj06 08-21-2013 08:44 PM

You have to jack up the center pipe section and then bolt it in. I still can't get the stupid tips to line up correctly but it's not rattling and it sounds awesome. I'll post pictures tomorrow. I'll be on the Dragon friday is anyone is going to be in the area. I'm always down to plan a trip and you guys are welcome to stop by.

ZBro16 08-29-2013 01:19 PM

Anyone here interested in NOPI (NICOfest event) in a couple weeks? Sept 21-22 in Carrolton, GA.

LadieZ 08-30-2013 05:25 PM

I know huntsville is a little ways away from Birmingham but I will be in bham this weekend with my Z looking for some stuff to do. Anyone meet up around there ever?

MadMan 08-30-2013 05:31 PM

LadieZ, there is a Birmingham GZ Club site you may want to check.

BamaGZ

Awesome Thank you!

MadMan 09-12-2013 08:05 AM

22 Days till Z Nationals.
Who all's going?

speedfreek 09-12-2013 08:43 AM

Unfortunately most of the Huntsville Nissan group are not that big of enthusiasts. They just drive Z's or G's mostly. The biggest thing they do is each month they attend their local meet. That consists of hanging out at various restraunts around Huntsville/Madison and some eat dinner there. That is it. I have tried to get them to go to events such as Zdayz and Z Nationals but they just do not show any interest. That is why I joined BamaGZ as they are much more active. Only downfall is the majority are based out of Birmingham which isn't that far but still not right down the street.

Right now I do believe it is just us two leaving out of Huntsville unless someone else chimes in. I am not sure if we will head down to Birmingham to link up with the BamaGZ crew early AM that Friday. Or take a more direct route through Gadsden. Those details will be finalized in the upcoming weeks.

*********************
Also do not forget that on November 2nd their will be a cruise up to the Nashville C&C for those interested let me know.

MadMan 09-12-2013 08:50 AM

Roger that. I'm flexible, so just let me know.

derraj06 09-16-2013 09:18 PM

I'm not gonna get to make it to Z nationals this year due to someone keying my car twice and work picking up anytime I want to travel. Hoping to make it next year though! Zdayz as well since its in my back yard.
