I should be there. I've never been to that place before.

Where did they send you to this time?

Red__Zed 11-30-2011 01:20 PM

Dc and atlanta. Not too bad. Traveling has made me miss the last couple meets...still got your clutch spring around here somewhere....

Samir 11-30-2011 02:00 PM

That's why you get paid the big bucks! You always make up the meets with your company at the ones you do make. :) So how's the Subaru? Is just the 5.0 getting seat time?

Ha! Big bucks? I wish :p

Subaru got a lot of seat time recently since I was in DC. Missed the mustang though....

Hey, you've got a job in a down economy, so you're a baller in my book. :tiphat:

What did you miss about the Mustang versus the Subie? Power? Handling? Ergonomics?

The cars just feel very different. There's something special about producing almost 400ft/lbs of torque and sending it to the rear wheels....

On the other hand, the subie feels a lot lighter and more tossable (even more than the z was, even though it wasn't actually lighter). Awd with a turbo four is just an absolute blast to drive around, and it's really hard to get yourself in trouble with the car.

Samir 12-01-2011 01:32 PM

I know the feeling. :) My Corvette is that rwd monster. My Boxster is that tossable fun car. I love them both for different reasons. I guess they're like kids, lol. Wait, there's always a favorite kid...

Red__Zed 12-06-2011 09:08 AM

Saw a blue 350 almost lose it trying to keep up with me exiting off 255 onto 72 this morning...

Also saw Parker but didn't get in a wave.

Samir 12-06-2011 09:54 PM

:O Be careful about that. A friend of mine once beat a new GTO and then watched him wreck pretty bad in the rearview. If I see someone pushing it beyond their means, I stop playing. It's not fun for me anymore when people crash.

I wasn't even pushing it...I just like taking that offramp briskly:roflpuke2:

Samir 12-06-2011 10:53 PM

lol. It's amazing how fast the right line will make your turn. I take the 565 south exit from 255 at 50mph regularly in my bone stock 94 Accord. I can't tell you how many times after the turn I've come up on BMWs who freak out when they see me there.

JDV500 12-14-2011 12:23 PM

i'm in a new red z, living in good ole' owens cross roads. drop me a line when you got something going on. or simply wanna talk shop and mods...
joe

Samir 12-14-2011 02:21 PM

Welcome! There's monthly Nissan meets in Huntsville, but I'm not exactly sure what we're doing this month:
Monthly Nissan Meet - Huntsville Car Scene.com

And I think I saw Parkerman yesterday in the Target center off University. It was twin of his car if it wasn't.

Yeah. That's a high speed exit right there....I can take it at the 565 speed limit with no issues (besides the slow moving traffic that always seems to be there:( )

And it's even nicer now that they paved it. I used to use the dropoff to give my car a lean into the turn, lol.

Haha....scared the **** out of me the first time a drive it:icon17:

Samir 12-15-2011 01:02 PM

Yeah, there's not much of a barrier if you miss the turn, just a 40' grassy dropoff. I've seen tire imprints where people have gone off. Must be a pretty scary ride. :O

Red__Zed 12-16-2011 03:57 PM

Anybody up for a mini-meet this weekend since the normal meet date is a no-go?

JDV500 12-16-2011 04:42 PM

Thanks much, standing by.

JDV500 12-16-2011 04:49 PM

Anyone in hsv install test pipes.?

I have a set here in the box i was thinking of putting in, been reading the issues with the upper bolt forward of the cat, some get it easy some don't. just wanted to hear what you've encountered. And did you like the results.

thanks, joe

If you don't mind some time under the car with a breaker bar, it isn't that bad of an install.

I'm currently pretty busy with family stuff and Christmas shopping. So nothing will really work out for me for awhile.

Parkerman 12-19-2011 09:49 AM

Daniel, I'm going to need you to get some inferno red stripes on the 5.0 so I realize its you.

On order now :ugh2:

I actually saw your twin car about a mile behind you today. I think it was a base with no tint, but same color. Kinda freaked me out for a second.

I was like "wave to Parker...."

*mile later*

"wave to....what?"

Haha, I've seen my twin when I've been in other cars... but not mine yet.

I saw you this morning and realized it was you about half a second before you passed by.

On a side note. There is a rattle IN my driver door, in the back top corner of it [closest to my ear]. I say IN it because I removed the door panel and it was still there. Its driving me insane. And now my ECU is having the awesome high pitch annoy the **** out of you want to go kill yourself wtf is happening sound.

All of this after my warranty ran out.

Only one way out:stirthepot:

For the ecu whine, the dealer should take care of it even out of warranty. It's pretty common and well known as a flaw.

For the rattle, you're probably sol. I fixed it once by getting a piece of crap out with a magnet, but the next time it happened I could not get rid of it to save my life....

Hmm... magnet, I haven't thought of that. I have a pretty powerful magnet I might try to see if it will make it stop..

The rattle bothers me more than the whine. Is there a TSB out for the whine?

Red__Zed 12-19-2011 02:11 PM

I don't think there's a tsb, but it's a "known issue" like 5th gear. I think it was all the ecus with a PN ending with an A are bad....they should note it as pre-existing and take care of you

I plan to give the FR-S/BRZ some seat time when it makes it to dealerships. I know its no 5.0, or 400hp beast.. But I think it could be a fun little car. All depends how the 200hp feels at 2700lbs.

Red__Zed 01-09-2012 10:34 PM
