jiffylube overfilled my nismo with about 2 quarts
2 Attachment(s)
Hey, so i made the biggest mistake a few weeks back when I was in a hurry to change the oil but didnt have time and took it to jiffylube. When they returned the car if wad functioning normally so, but very unlike regular I didnt check the oil level. The car continued to operate normally and was driven about 159 miles to and from work in the next day. By the time I got to 2 miles from my home the car starts hesitating in acceleration, coolant temp was normal but my oil temp was at around 270. I drove it home with no further issues other than the described. When the car cooled i checked the oil only to have to siphon (using blackstone pump) almost halt a gallon of oil.The oil was black as tar as if never changed and only oil was added. The pictures are after their second oil change "fixing the problem". After removing the oil the car operated normally. Today the car made a screeching noise from the passenger side of the engine. Couldnt tell if it came from valve are or crank. There also seems to be an out of time ticking noise on the right side valve area and a wierd fine "grit" residue on oil dip stick. Any input on situation or recommendations for tuner shops in South Fl that build good 370z engines, would be greatly appreciated.

Were you blowing a lot of smoke? Not white smoke when you first start the car. It is more bluish. It is a sign that they did. Also smells funky.

On those two photos, what did you intend to show? Where did you think the oil level was depicted in them?
|
No smoke. Which was comforting being it so that it was heavily overfilled for a considerable mileage. The dipstick if you zoom well enough you can see a faint brown/grey like just be the H. It only leaves that residue after sitting overnight or extended hours. Ive had this car since 800miles and do my oil changes. This was never visible.
As for comparison never seen that not even in my 09STI that had cracked ringlands |
The abnormal ticking is probably them using regular oil.
The Z requires synthetic oil to keep the valve train quite. |
Noise on passenger side of the engine. Took it to Nissan, they say everything is ok...:gtfo2:

Will get Blackstone analysis soon.

Sounds like a pulley noise. Maybe they got oil on the belt?
If it were me, I'd pull the belt and inspect all pulleys for smooth operation. No binding or rough rotation. Btw, who takes their car to jiffy lube. I'd say any independent mechanic is better than a jiffy lube/walmart. |
