Nice shot, love the crop and the long shutter, sets it apart from amateur stuff. Only real critique, could use some sharpening but could have just been the upload. Thumbs up!

Hey HKYStormFront (Patrick). Happy late birthday!

HKYStormFront 04-17-2017 07:10 PM

Thank you bud!!

I have been fortunate enough to shoot four different cars for Mecum auctions in the past few weeks. Two weren't much to write home about but these were pretty cool...

1970 Plymouth Barracuda AAR 383 Six Barrel

1969 Chevrolet Corvette 427 in Monaco Orange

Both of these cars will be auctioned next month at the Indy show.

Just in case you aren't feeling quite patriotic enough for Memorial Day tomorrow, here's something to boost the morale! I shot these two cars at ZdayZ this year (both of these cars belong to former Z owners, now ZdayZ family members!). Both have wraps designed by Scott Kepple, wrapped by Justin @ Redline Design out of Florida. Hopefully, mine will be wrapped by next year, we will see...

I have a question for you guys. I edited one picture in Lightroom. It was a lot spot removal, noise reduce and other stuff. When it's done I am quite satisfied with it. But when I export it onto the hard drive(as jpeg), the quality is reduced! I saw a lot of noises came back. Have you guys encountered this before? I know the file is pretty big(17MB) because of the editing. But I set the export option to be 100% quality of the edited RAW file. Is there a file size limitation in Lightroom when export RAW onto hard drive in jpeg?

I've had the same feeling on some images, typically it just depends on the image and what level of zoom you're using to review it as a jpg file. Sometimes they'll look really grainy when full screened using windows photo viewer, but then if you zoom in, the grain goes away, but may re-appear at 100% in some cases.

I doubt it will show when printed or downsized for web use from my experience.

You lose a lot of data when you make a jpeg. Take the same picture and output as a tif file and see how much difference there is.
I don't care what the Lightroom setting says, a jpeg will NEVER contain 100% of the raw.

I can't remember if I've ever posted a link to Mark Rebilas' site, but I love his stuff.
He does a LOT of sport photography. You'll often see his name in the credits at NHRA races.
I really like his blog because he posts the settings that he uses too. Helps learn better ways to shoot.
Just thought I'd share.

A little over a month ago marked the annual Z Nationals event in Atlanta, put on by the good folks at Z1 Motorsports. I was able to rejoin them this year (after a two year hiatus) as one of their photographers. And as usual they had a stunning lineup of Z1 girls out and about during the car show which was held at Coolray Field (home of the Gwinnet Braves). I was assigned the dubious task of trying to take some pictures of these lovely ladies in and amongst the cars on display. Since Nissan was kind enough to bring one of their super cool LMP1 prototypes from a couple years ago, to go along with an impressive display of other historical race cars, I figured that was about as good as it gets to shoot with. I only took this one angle with Alissa but I was happy with the result...
