There is about a 95% chance it will get destroyed in the process.

I have a PWJDM Acetal Copolymer Shift Knob and absolutely love it. It's honestly a short shifter in my opinion. I spent a week attacking my OEM knob....strap wrench, radiator hose section with vise grips, boot on and off, etc. Finally, I just put on some mechanics gloves, and went ape $hit on it...passenger seat reclined, reverse two hand grip, straight Arnold. Came right off. In the end it would not have been destroyed besides a slip of the vise grips leaving a mark on the neck.

Make sure to get the larger strap, I went cheap and purchased the smaller one, doesn't work so well.
