What are hot spots?

hot spots are literally spots on the flywheel or center plate that have been heated up from use (in metal forming terms its called "work hardening"). Every flywheel will have these spots due to use (its unavoidable), and old and/or abused clutches will typically have a lot of spots or even giant spots. Really bad/deep hot spots cannot be resurfaced since the metal is too tough, and can cause clutch discs to slip.

BTW: do not confuse the spots on the clutch disk, those are my fingerprints...

I always thought that clutches were measure in how much torque they could handle. Either way for a custom clutch this sounds like an awesome deal! I am also going with a triple-disk application but from Exedy....

What is the weight difference between this and stock?

Sorry for the delay! I just weighed the clutch on my bathroom scale and it came in at 35lbs. I believe the stock clutch with flywheel is 50lbs, so the OS Giken clutch wont have the harmonic vibrations that is common with ultra light clutch setups.

Also, the OS Giken flywheel is composed of the same forged steel material as the clutch housing, so there is minimal flex caused from heat, which also prolongs the life of the clutch disc.

Doesnt this forum require a certain number of posts before you can sell anything on it? OP had had under ten posts along with most of the guys who are replying to this.
