FWIW, that 'new' one is either refurbished or gray market. Crutchfield usually has some of the lowest reputable US-model prices and lists it for $1200.

The question should be asked, where the OP bought his from. By the price he bought it from a Pioneer dealer and that means it has the full warranty. If you buy from the places you listed you get zero warranty.

Is the upgrade simply a firmware mod?

It is a paid upgrade: Pioneer USA - CNSD-110FM - 2010 Map and GUI interface upgrade for AVIC-Z110BT
Basically the Z110 with this upgrade is a Z120, they both run the same hardware and Pioneer released a full upgrade for the 110 owners.

I purchased from Crutch-field.And the upgrade is what the dreamer said it turns the z110bt into a z120bt

o ya you can find these things all day long on gray market or on some *****y site but no warranty forget about that.

is it plug n play since you already had all the necessary wiring done when you installed it?
