WTB : HomeLink Rear View Mirror

Just moved and now I have a garage, so now it's time to invest in a Homelink mirror. Trying to avoid spending $270 or so for one. Used is fine. I can even use UPS to send you a call tag to have it shipped. All you have to do is put it in a box.

Thanks! :tiphat:

I've seen a member use this as an alternative. Good pricing too. I might get one as soon as I move to a garaged home :]

Gentex Auto Dimming Mirror Kit

just search ebay for nissan homelink mirror. pretty much any of them will work, (ones without the compass) I happened to find one from a Maxima that was like 30 bucks. There's one for 49 out there now. Then pick up one of these:
Gentex Auto-Dimming HomeLink Mirror Wire Harness Kit : eBay Motors (item 140384080452 end time Mar-18-10 19:13:01 PDT)

And then hit up Courtesy Nissan for the little plastic cover for the wires.
COVER-INSIDE MIRROR - 370Z (Z34) 2009+ :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com

Altogether it cost me around 70 bucks for a homelink mirror, sure beats what Nissan charges for the kit.

Isn't the wiring built in for the Homelink? If we go with a generic Nissan Homelink do we have to run our own wire?

How does the $270 370Z Homelink hook up?

vipor 03-01-2010 12:03 PM

Still have to run 3 wires down the A Pillar AFAIK.

wiring down the a-pillar into the fusebox

Thanks all for the tip. I bought a Homelink mirror on ebay along with the wiring kit and just ordered the cover from Courtesy Nissan. Cost me around $70 so far!

Now with the install. What about tapping into the two light buttons above the Mirror? That would seem easier. Is that doable?

You aren't going to find both a 12v constant and an ignition/accessory at that location. Probably just a 12v constant and a door-pin-activated power lead.

For what its worth, I did both power leads to a keyed ignition source (radio I think). Kind of a safety feature where you can only open the garage door when the car is on.

vipor 03-16-2010 10:23 AM

Not a bad idea. Since I park in the garage I'm not too worried about it though.

Keep in mind that there are also lighting controls that you can use with your Homelink mirror.

Supposedly the B&D Freewire product is compatible. Homelink themselves makes some basic products as well.

Doesn't the write up in the DIY section have you tap into the accessory doing the same thing?

Edit, mis read it. You must mean your engine has to be on for it to work...
