Wilwood 72 Vane 355x32 Rotors for Akebonos
6 Attachment(s)
For those needing more thermal capacity and better heat shedding than the Z1 2 piece rotors, these may do the trick. For me they dropped over 100F at the track vs the Z1's AND lasted much longer. And the Z1s were already a big jump vs stock rotors for heat dissipation. Compared to other 2 piece rotors like Stoptech and RacingBrake, these have a huge long term advantage in ring replacement costs and ease of sourcing, and I'll be including an extra ring (Left).
Price: $350 shipped The hats alone ran me over $500 to have made, so hoping someone sees enough value in this to mod their calipers. The one catch is that they require trimming of the caliper where I have circled. I did my own set with a cheap Amazon knockoff dremel, though having a local machine shop do it would be much less tiring and ruin one less shirt with aluminum flakes. |

Do you have pictures of how much you trimmed off your calipers?

This is the reman caliper I used at first. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of my OEM ones. But this shows what needs trimming and how it looks mounted. |

This is very interesting/tempting.
1. So you custom made the hats to fit the WW discs? 2. Do you know total weight of one? I’m guessing it’s not as light as z1, but still probably 5lbs lighter than oem? 3. To be clear it comes with one spare left side disc, 2 used discs attached with the 2 hats? 4. And to fit oem akebono calibers only some mild clearancing on underside of caliber to clear the hat is all and its direct bolt on otherwise? 5. What brakes did you run in the rear with these? |
