Wanted: Multicolored tow hook
Only have about $15-$20 to spend on a hook, including shipping. I'm not a huge fan of the ones on Amazon (they pretty much only have red ones unfortunately) and I'm really just wanting to match my silver/purple scheme I've got going on. I figured a tow hook would do well to tie in the colors! Doesn't need to be super high quality or anything, just as long as it's fairly good looking :) :tiphat:

check the reviews on that link before purchase! :ughdance:

Two out of 124. Not sure that is a good sample, but if he pays with PayPal, he should be protected.

careful with the Ebay ones. I purchased one and used to tow car on truck. It broke . Contacted the company. They gladly sent me another. Next tow it broke coming off the truck on the aluminum side of the hook bolt.

I'm gonna give this till Friday or Saturday before committing and getting the eBay ones, regardless of those two reviews on there :rofl2: So if anyone on the forum here has anything like that for sale, I guess now's your chance to throw out some offers! Besides, I'd honestly prefer to purchase from this wonderful community anyway :)

Honestly, like sniper5431 said, I'd be EXTREMELY careful with ebay ones. I had one up until a few weeks ago where the hook part broke off from the stem at the threads. I ended up getting a billet one from PTuning.

I would say that anybody who buys a $26 tow hook for other then looks, is kiding themselves when they think that it will be functional.
|
Why do people do this? Does your car not have a reverse gear because "weight reduction bro" at the drag strip? Please don't turn your Z into a Honda civic.
|
By no means am I using this for functionality... I'll just stick with OEM for that. My little front cover bracket thing likes to pop off sometimes, so instead of just leaving a little gap, I thought a tow hook would look good there. Also, I have a silver/purple/greenish blue theme going on with my car and lights and all that but sometimes the DRL's look a little out of place, so a little tow hook might do justice to tie everything in together. Worst case, eh, I'll stick the cover back on and probably fix the clips and I'm out $20. Not really a big deal.

my $.02, the silver one that came with your car in the trunk might work if you wanted to try and do a plastidip/custom paint color mixing the make the perfect color that your after without compromising actual usability at low cost (the cost of the paint only).
I would be incredibly weary of any tow hook that you can buy in the 15-20$ range. I bought one from a real site called ptuning a while back and I never considered it being strong until my Z was being towed up the back of a flatbed truck and I thought "hmmm hopefully that tow hook holds". Fortunately it did and my car didnt go falling down a flat bed and down the hill into a wall. But its definitely worth the money or waiting until you can get the money. I know top secret makes a bunch of multicolor chrome stuff that kinda ends up looking silver/purple-ish but its expensive and I've not seen a tow hook from them. Best of luck to you :) |

Also, I did think about plastidipping my OEM hook black! But the thing is: I just am not a huge fan of the way it looks when it's attached. I suppose that's for a good reason; I mean, you're not really supposed to have a tow hook out and about like that... but you know what I mean! I like that semi-track look, is what I'm getting at :rofl2: I do not have a way with words lmao |
Just go for it. It's your car.
