Assuming things start turning out well, I'm probably down at that price point. Would like mine reshaped w/flat bottom, black leather sides with red stitching, CF top/bottom, and a red top dead center line if possible(like my Nismo wheel).

Just an update

I came down with the flu this week so I didn't get much done at the beginning of the week. I started the molding process today, I will finish tomorrow.

Hi everyone :hello:

Op will be contacting AK before any steering wheels are to be sold since this was an interest only thread.

Thanks for reporting.

James10694 12-10-2015 11:20 PM

Interested in this. similar companies sell these wheels for 900+...

RBfastback 12-10-2015 11:34 PM

I'm wondering what u would want to just get the new nismo wheel design? if it's better to get from you by converting mine with the Alcantara and red center strip at top or to order from: http://www.rhdjapan.com/nissan-oem-s...airlady-z.html
and get it for $350?

Z_Society 12-15-2015 07:24 AM

****UPDATE*****

still waiting on AK to respond to my email

i am assuming this fell flat on itīs face? hopefully not and you are just on vacation for the holidays... in a cave... miles from the nearest wifi access point... or cell service...

edconline 12-23-2015 12:57 AM

Seems like pricing will be right in line with what CFE is offering for these?
Curious to see pics if this ever happens.

AntiVenom 12-23-2015 04:55 AM

Yea I was pretty interested. Primarily because EFC doesnīt do non-CF wheels. I like the look of the CF wheels, but was more interested in a reshaped leather/alcantara wheel without CF.

RBfastback 12-23-2015 08:58 AM

I think that's stupid that they absolutely have to use carbon fiber even tho they obviously can do it without. loosing out on a big market..

:iagree:

seems like sticking to an idea rather than sticking to giving the community what it wants.

littlejuanito 12-23-2015 12:56 PM

So let me get this clear, about $500+ just to get your OWN wheel modified?

That seems a bit high when you can get the Nismo wheel Nissan OEM Steering Wheel - Z34 Fairlady Z - RHDJapan for about $300 and you can still sell your stock one and offset some of the cost.

If these wheels are $500+ and I still get to keep my OEM, then count me in.

The top and bottom to that OEM wheel isn't Carbon Fiber, have to add that cost in as well plus labor if you want it, Carbon Fiber isn't easy and fast to craft. VERY TEDIOUS AND OCD WORK. But honestly, the one I had and sold, brand new from the factory cost $1,300 plus shipping and that is taking your OEM wheel (they paid shipping out to them, I paid for the shipping of the complete wheel) and custom carving, molding, squared bottom, Carbon Fiber top and bottom, custom red stitching and pattern. etc.
It looked like the Ferrari Core wheel without airbag.

So in other words it can be a bunch worse in price lol.

Plus as for ordering things from RHD Japan, you will see it in 6 months and have a bill from Customs

AntiVenom 12-23-2015 02:08 PM

Completely off topic but I have received stuff from rhdjapan in as little as 5-6 weeks. However he nismo wheel isn't reshaped and you can't customize anything so I am not sure it is relevant in this thread.

The worker must have just saw your order come in and had that exact part, packaged and ready to ship to the next buyer haha :rofl2:

Otherwise it can take forever lol...

We actually do fully stitched wheels as well as carbon and reshaping...Just don't get too many requests for them, which is why Ive hardly post pics of them. 5 pages of this thread and yet to see anything. Anyone who actually wants a custom wheel message me as I have tons in stock. I am also a paying vendor on here for years now.

AntiVenom 12-28-2015 05:15 AM

Just as a warning to anyone who is wanting the Nismo wheel, Alcantara type materials wear extremely quickly from my experience. If you search the web you'll find this to be pretty normal. My stock Nismo wheel showed serious wear on my Z after about 9k miles, so much so that Nissan offered to replace it under warranty without me asking because it was looking so crappy. My girl has a Juke Nismo, for normal daily driving only, and her's is wearing down as well at 12k miles and will be ugly by 20k at my estimation. When Alcantara wears down it looks like colored cardboard, extremely freaking ugly IMO. As much as I love the feel I would never buy a wheel with Alcantara on the sides.

Thanks for the tip. Definitely makes me reconsider the idea of an alacantara wheel.

honestly I was just happily surprised and thought that was just a little funny.

message u when I'm ready, when I thought it wasn't going to happen last month I got an oil cooler instead

Bump

edconline 01-02-2016 11:28 AM

My alcantara wrapped wheel from carbon Fiber element has been holding up extremely well.
Will it EVENTUALLY wear to the point where I'd recover it? Maybe 4 years from now, and I'd just have Tony recover it then, not a big deal. Certainly not a reason to miss out on using the best material for your wheel...

That's like saying 'naw I won't buy sticky tires for the Z because they wear faster, I'll stick with the all seasons with great tread life.'
