I ordered one and it came without a wiring pigtail so I ordered another one that was complete with Gentex rear view mirror with compass and Homelink. Auto dimming with amber color, comes complete with mirror, wiring pigtail (harness), and very detailed instructions. All told, about an hours worth of work and yes it is tested and guaranteed to work.

Boy, I sure hope I know how to load the images,,,,, we shall see.

I have the HomeLink mirror currently, but it doesn't have the compass. Do you know if there are any specific year models that this will work on (or that it specifically doesn't work on).

Or, maybe a better question is, "are all of the compass mechanics contained inside the this mirror, or is it getting the compass feed from the vehicle and just displaying that output?"

I'm fairly certain the compass is in the mirror, so it should work regardless of the car as long as the mirror has power :twocents:

Compass is in the mirror. All you need to do is calibrate it after you install.

It is indeed self contained, the instructions say to drive around in a circle three times and it will calibrate itself.
