do these automatically sync with the car or do they need to be programmed?

OEM TPMS have to be programmed to the car after installed on a wheel. There is a DIY without a tool but hassle to do. Or you can take it to a wheel or other shop and they can program it for you. Going to buy a tool for $100ish to do this and to check TPMS battery condition.

I have a 2009 370z, which should use the 40700 JK00B. I'm not sure why the dealer gave a slightly different part #.
