Generation 1 had that issue but I thought they addressed that issue with gen 2..

cooltoy 01-30-2015 11:07 AM

Probably would still happen with Gen 2 if you are lowered.

This is the version 2 exhaust and my car is lowered Haha its actually lowered quite a bit, but I've only scraped my exhaust once.

shihtake 01-30-2015 03:37 PM

I have the Gen 1, lowered on BC coilovers.. Can confirm both sides of mine are pretty much filed flat. :rofl2: The good thing is that once it's been scraped enough it'll stop scraping! It can take a lot of scraping before it starts leaking. Free bump!

dichoi 02-03-2015 01:17 PM

Bump. Price drop to 950

Zbrah 02-03-2015 01:21 PM

So much for the claims that FI sits higher than stock lol and not one person ever scraped a stock exhaust.

What are you upgrading to D?

cooltoy 02-03-2015 02:05 PM

I don't think there has been any claims that it sits higher.

It sits at the same height as the lowest point of the car. The only difference is that the lowest point of the exhaust is in a different location (relative to where the wheels raise or lower the car when going over bumps), which makes more prone to scraping when lowered.

I am pretty sure no one scraped an FI exhaust at stock height (unless they did something that is not recommended when going over a bump).

Zbrah 02-03-2015 02:08 PM

Oh it was posted a while back, i can dig up those posts when i have time.

dichoi 02-03-2015 02:12 PM

Honestly I don't consider anything a significant upgrade over this. Except maybe amuse. But combined w my non res test pipes, the sound is deafening Haha and the gf does not like. And I don't want to lose the flow so stock cats is not an option. I'm thinking m7 or berk at the moment

Never seen that. Was it FI that was claiming this, or a member?

Zbrah 02-03-2015 02:41 PM

I believe was another member. One of my buddy was looking to order an FI, clearance was a big issue for him so he asked that question and was told FI sits higher than stock. He ordered it, even paid extra for the CF cans, it scraped soon after it was installed:rofl2:

dichoi 02-03-2015 02:47 PM

This exhaust will not scrape at stock height. Even if lowered, it will only scrape on massive dips. Pretty much only when you bottom out...

Oh my comment wasn't meant to say that FI hangs low at all, in fact it's probably a little higher than the Ark Grip I had on, now those things are low :nutswinger:

When I was buying mine, FI said that it is the same height as the lowest point on the car, but it is shifted now to an area which may not be as protected as the other OEM low point (on the rear suspension I believe). I have not scraped at stock height and I only clear my drive way by a few millimetres on the front.

Zbrah 02-03-2015 04:25 PM

I've seen ppl using zip ties around the rubber hangers to gain a few mm of clearance.

Will this fit a g37 coupe?

cooltoy 02-04-2015 09:35 AM

I would recommend asking Fast Intensions.

No, the G37 is longer

g37hr 02-04-2015 06:33 PM

It will fit just need to get extensions and extend tail pipes as well. I used a magnaflow cbe from a 370z on my g37 coupe. Just paid muffler shop to fabricate 2.5" tubes only about $80 more

240se 02-04-2015 07:35 PM

I am at stock ride height and have the gen 2 and when I put it on I was concerned about clearance. I measured and the lowest point under my Z (except the stock front air dam) is the cats and they are around 1/4" lower than the lowest point on my mufflers.

Dawson 02-05-2015 09:41 AM

Kevin @ FI said it won't unfortunately :(
