The GTPP is definitely trying to be a great street car with some track readiness. It's ready to go to the occasional track day, but it's more focused on being a car you'd be happy with commuting in every day. Compared to the 1LE it is softer, more comfortable, feature-rich, and in classic Ford fashion, totally under-damped for the high speed stuff.

Looking at the two objectively it's obvious they both serve different purposes. I'd say the 1LE would make more sense to be compared to a Boss-variant of the current Mustang, if that makes any sense. The previous Boss took away a lot of the comfort features and focused on track prowess, however it (the standard Boss) was still outperformed by the 1LE.

For all intents and purposes. I WOULDN'T compare the 1LE to a BOSS for 1 main reason. $38k puts you in. 1SS1LE and $42k puts you in a 2SS1LE. It's still cheaper than a loaded out GT and if you load out the 2SS with sunroof n nav. Its still almost 2k cheaper than the GT.
Also the fact these two cars are as direct as direct competitors can ever be!!!! I would directly compare a 1LE to a Track pack.

Same car type, same money, same philosophy. If stang went softer? They chose not to step up performance-wise in there own segment.

The ZL1 and BOSS compare closer.

Fair point about the price.

But I still think if you look at them objectively, the focus of both cars is a little bit different. 1LE is a more hardcore package. The GT Performance Pack (they don't call it the Track Pack anymore for good reason, IMO) is much more suited towards every day use.

That said, it is a little disappointing that Ford does not offer a more focused package for the GT. More tire, better dampers, and stiffer springs would do wonders for the car on track. Maybe some of the suspension goodies (especially MagneRide) from the GT350 will eventually trickle down?

With the Camaro yet to debut. I'm sure Ford isn't giving everything year one. But camaro's potential light weight will be hard to compete against.

Definitely looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
