I just am in love with that engine. the part I would like to see is when the tuners get a hold of them.

I mean the mclarens get 600HP out of a 3.8L V8 TT
the GT-R gets 600HP out of a 3.8L V6

a 4.0L V8 with that clever of turbo placement and design only putting down 510HP? c'mon MB we know it has big balls. now unleash them :bowrofl:

Thats the beauty of the GT-S... POTENTIAL! The Black edition may be looking at up to 580hp, But i guessimate pricing to be about $170,000. You can get the base GT for 100k and tune the shyt out of it.:happydance:

yea but in the end my comment will be, for that money I can get a 2015 GT-R for 85K (dealer auction price), dump ~40k (total of the gt-s) and have a monster. plus as beautiful as the Merc is and the amazing engine I still have the softest of spots for the GT-R in my heart.

No matter how much you dump into a GT-R... It will NEVER SOUND like or be as quality crafted, internally and externally as this Benz... And this Benz gets all the performance from RWD.
Unless Benz is sharing this engine design with Nissan for the next gen GT-R?
No comparison.:tiphat:

Yes, that would make the GT-R, the most desireable car on the planet if you can attain one for less than $100k? :leghump:

no chance lol with the nismo being up around 150k already I could see the next gen starting around 130k.

the only part that throws off their pricing scheme is the recent slash in prices at dealerships. 14's got hacked way low to make room for 15's and even the 15's got a discount at most places.

My only criticism thus far. The seat seems kind of close to the steering wheel. Im clausterphobic and it just seems tight in there... I hope you can push the seat farther back but it appears to be pretty far back??

I'm surprised the drag coefficient is so high... seems too aerodynamic for such a high drag coefficient.

New Mercedes cars all resemble Bratwursts now. The only thing missing on the GT-S is some sauerkraut and mustard...

I am sure it is a very fun car.

I do love German and Hungarian food. Someday if I decide to go with a German car I would like to do a factory delivery in Germany and partake in the local cuisine. Time it to attend the German Austrian F1 race and I would call that a dream vacation!

IMHO... GT-R sits to high, has no engine grunt, has too high a center of gravity and doesn't have anywhere near the same build quality as the AMG... If getting to 60 in under 3 seconds was my reason for driving? Then it be the GT-R without a doubt.

Spied! Is This the Upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT R?

MB is making a higher horsepower, more aggressive AMG GT to be labeled the GT-R, then to be followed by the "Black Series". Exciting to know MB is going further.

I'd like to see a baby version of this car with a TTV6 and 400HP to start around $75k. A GT base. Some luxury features removed to reduce weight 100lbs. Like manual seats and manual tilt. No heated seats and some sound deadening removed. Then maybe another 60lbs reduced off the smaller engine. Would make a nice sub $100k sports car.

I think if Mercedes threw in our TT 276 motor and up'd the power around 400 hp it really wouldn't sell, etc. The 4.0 liter biturbo is a monster! If I were to buy this car I would get it with the 4.0 liter biturbo no questions asked and not even bat an eye at the v6 tt one. We have just an AMG GT which puts out less power than the GT-S trim. I have driven cars with both engines and the tt 276 motor doesn't even compare to the 4.0 liter biturbo at all! lol I can honestly say if I drove a GT with the tt 276 motor in it with a bit more power it would feel slow since it weighs close to a C450 AMG. I would be severely disappointed considering the price.

The C450AMG is 3,800lbs with a high center of gravity and a gussied up 7AT.

The AMG GTS is 3,627 lbs with a DCT and a lowered center of gravity and a whoooooole different set of driving dynamics than your choice of comparison... A DCT with a much more tuned transmission gearing for a pure sports experience. The AMG GT has 457HP with the dumbed down version of the GT-S but would cost $115k

My version of the base AMG would be 3,500lbs. 400HP & 420lbs torque. Would probably have an acceleration time between a camaro v6 & SS (5.1/4.0sec) which would be 4.5 seconds or so with the aggressively tuned transmission... Manual seats and other things stated. I don't agree. It would compete directly against the Jaguar F type S which people are calling a better driving car than the F-type R. If Mercedes kept aggressive gears the same handling, A SPECIAL TUNED exhaust... It could be a more aggressive more pure competitor to the Jaguar F type S which is amazingly fun to drive, fairly fast and weighs 100lbs more than my potential AMG GT base would be while my GTS would have +20HP/+81lbs torque than an F type S rated at 380HP/339lbs tq.

Dreadnaught 01-30-2016 07:56 PM

True that the C class and GT/GT-S are two totally different vehicles among them selves but I don't see Mercedes going with a TT v6 in that chassis like you would like. They will just up the power with the 4.0 liter biturbo and shed some weight and play with the gearing, handling, etc like they are with the GT-R, etc.

I know they won't. They're not looking to make a future Z competitor. But I think it would be nice.

I seriously love this car. It's right there with a DB9, 911 Turbo S, Jag XJ-R, Audi V10, Z06, NSX, GTR, M5. Hmmm...

Dreadnaught 04-09-2016 04:06 PM

I'm sure I'll see the GT-R here at my work soon. We have big spenders here at my dealer. We have sold 10 GT-S's that I know of and plenty of other chassis AMG cars. I have driver this car a couple of times and it is truly unbelievable. Great job Mercedes!
