Nissan only Japanese and among most unreliable cars..
 

After owning two Mini's I can vouch for that, worst car ever but if you can afford to keep it running, the most fun car ever! I currently own a 2002 Jeep with 100k miles and it's been the most dependable vehicle I've ever owned. After owning 3 Zs, I don't see how they're some of the least dependable, I had no problems with my past cars or current. Not sure who came out with this list but for the most part it's BS.

Doesn't this basically end up looking like

Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai.

Essentially the top auto makers in the world as far as volume goes? Meaning buy a Toyota, honda or mazda, if you want a car not associated with them?

Nissan was always the Japanese Ford.

And Mitsubishi the Japanese GM.

Honda, Toyota, and Mazda have -- at least historically and to the best of my knowledge -- been among the most reliable of cars, and pretty much in that order.

Still, I'm quite happy with my Japanese Mustang :tup:

It is hard to know exactly what to conclude without the raw data from CR, or at least more data than was presented in OP's link. However, I found this portion of that link to be of interest:

I can say, speaking from 10+ years as a mechanic and repair shop manager, that of the top Japanese manu's, Nissan is not quite as reliable as Toyota/Honda, but far better than Mazda (FYI most Mazda's are derivatives of Ford Mo. Co.) and "Sh1T"subishi. Does Nissan deserve to be listed among the likes of Dodge, Ford, Mini and VW, no it does not.

ive had zero issues on my G and Z... also my hondas built in japan.

the legacy built in indy was a pos, civics built at ohio and canada were both pos's. these cars were bought new btw.

Unless they are taking into account problems outside the realm of normal vehicle repairs, for instance recalls and TSB's and stupid JD power reviews, even the Nissans built in the states are pretty good cars. But it seems like everyone has their own definition of "reliability" so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

yah, true that. i dont complain about little rattles my dd has cause it's a cheap car i dont care. but to some that 'cheap car' might be their most expensive purchase so they have a different perspective .. :ugh:
