I know this might be a little off topic but if Lexus is going to offer a 200K sports car, you think there is a possibility Toyota might re-release a Supra?

The MKV supra has been a rumor for over 10 years so honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath for one. Last rumor I heard is that the Supra was going to come back as a Lexus. Toyota really doesn't have any sport cars in their line-up so I really doubt they'll release another Supra, and if they do I don't see it holding a candle to the MKIV. If anything, I'd be happy with them re-releasing the MKIV...that car was so far ahead of its time was truly amazing. To this day I miss my 97 anniversary twin-turbo...which I converted to a single turbo. Looking back, I wish I just left the stock twins because the car was quite a bit more practical.

I love the LF-A however, it's still a Lexus so a 200K price-tag is crazy with the current economic issues and the fact that it's a "lexus." I'm sure some people with more money than time will buy one just because they can but, in states and europe, I'm sure people would rather spend that on an Italian exotic rather than a mass car brand. Who knows though!

^Agreed.

I honestly don't expect to ever see the LF-A released. Some of the rumors I've heard is that they scrapped the LF-A project, but are continuing research on the engine, and are still tracking the LF-A body as a lightweight mule.

Interesting. Do we know anyone, who might be in Tokyo on the 24th? I'd love to see some production pics up close, and in another color.

The test flat black/anthracite look is actually kind of cool, but I wanna see some glossy paint of that puppy.

yeah i think a few affiliates of NAGTROC i know will be there to see the SpecM and 2011 refreshed GTR.. so yeah there will be plenty of pics im sure

Looks mean, I like it very much. From a few automotive journalists who have already had prelim test drives, it's going to be ultra supercar level performance. You know the build quality will be top notch considering Toyota's resources.

the LF-A has gone through so many concept phases...I was able to see one of the concept models at an autoshow here in Houston a few years back...this car looks so much better in person than in pictures...I notice the headlights have been changed once again, and rear side mirrors now instead of cameras...

MeetJoeAsian 09-30-2009 11:07 AM

guess they registered manufacturer license plates with the city or town wherever they're at...cuz if you look at the pictures of the plates of the older body vs the newer body, they are using the same license plate...just an observation...

I like it, but $200k? I guess they are going right after the entry-level Ferraris and Lambos. Come to think of it, the front and rear grill treatments do kind of remind me of a Lamborghini. The exhaust piping is very Pagani Zonda-esque. I want to see the view from the driver's seat.

MC 09-30-2009 10:38 PM

there was a report today it might be even more $ than that since only 500 would be made

Solus 10-01-2009 07:44 AM

For a long time there have been rumors that they would be bringing the supra back under the lexus LF-A tag.. from what i understand the past couple years the LF-A has been rumored to be the new supra. I plan on sticking w/ rhd mkiv though :D

Nick911sc 10-01-2009 08:34 AM

They will fail miserably if this car is $200,000. Nissan made the right choice with the price of the GT-R. Toyota should follow behind.
