Pretty routine. God forbid we hold people accountable for their own bad decisions.

"design and mechanical flaws"???

Are they referring to the massive power that most people can't control? Obviously her deceased husband couldn't.
This is ridiculous and the lawyer that stirred this up needs to be drawn and quartered.
I am still bummed about Walker's death, but the two of them died while tempting fate. No one's fault but their own.

Not to mention, but David Donohue drove one of these at Talledega at around 197mph and Jay Leno did 167ish from a standing start and they both walked away unscathed.
This kind of frivolous lawsuit annoys me to no end.

Before anyone else says it, because they will... The guy was a race car driver.

I bet she's suing because she doesn't have money, hopefully Paul Walker's girlfriend gives them some money.

To throw a wrench into the equation because I'm a díck an it makes me happy... He was banging this girl that was like 10 years younger than him when she was 17 :stirthepot:

BS!

Many years ago.....most of you don't remember, the widow of a Flyers player sued Porsche for selling him a slant-nose 930 which he crashed and killed himself. I think it was Pele Limburgh. The widow alleged that they should have never sold the car to him in the first place. It was thrown out. Same thing will happen here. Bad driving with a super car on really old tires....that was his decision.

Chuck33079 05-13-2014 07:31 AM

Didn't the cops already come out and say the only factor involved in the crash was speed? So it was his own dumbass fault?

It's not the first time:

Carrera GT Crashes Into Court - Businessweek

Carrera GT Crash Settled for $4.5 Million

Porsche Pays $360k to Settle Carrera GT Lawsuit | The Truth About Cars

The car was set up from the factory to handle like a track or race car, meaning that understeer was NOT designed into the chassis and suspension like every other car that is mass produced. I highly doubt we will ever see another car like the Carrera GT again because of these lawsuits.

Yeah, that lawyer sued everybody even remotely involved in the crash. I'm shocked the tire manufacturer and fuel supplier weren't dragged into it. Porsche paid out $360k of a 4.5mm lawsuit. That's basically paying to get it over with and move on.

If there's to be any lawsuits, shouldn't the Fast and Extra Crispy's estate be suing Racecardriver McCrashypants's estate for wrongful death?

No, they are not referring to the power, they are referring to the fact that the car was set up from the factory to have neutral handling. This is what you want in your race car, but not necessarily a car that will be used on the street by "normal" drivers. It's not a "flaw" per se, but it was designed to handle that way. 99.9% of cars are designed and engineered to understeer. It's much safer that way.

As for the Leno and Donohue high speed attempt, Leno spun on one of his laps at very high speed. Leno was very fortunate not to have crashed.

I thought Walter Rorhl (sp?) spun one during the Nurburgring testing and spooked himself too. The fact it was a widowmaker was no secret. The car was a handful. Both the driver and passenger charcoal briquette knew that when they got in the car. And then the driver proceeded to double up the speed limit on a hard turn. Why does anyone give any ***** at all? Because a blonde blue eyed white boy actor died?

That would seem the most logical to me (but still ridiculous). That and the fact that whoever was in charge of maintaining the car didn't seem to notice that the tires were about 8 years old. That's just begging for trouble.

This. It was owned by a shop that employed professional mechanics, right? How does this even happen? The human torch probably had the $3k for a new set in his pocket at any time. Why was this an issue?

To be fair, Walker appeared to be a genuinely good guy. But people sue after accidents all the time for all different reasons. (In fact, my wife is suing a guy that hit her last year) The only reason this one gets so much press is because a celebrity was involved.

Exactly. The only reason this is news is because some pretty boy actor ain't so pretty anymore. If it was a regular guy in a Carerra GT, there would be an article on Jalopnik weeping for the car. If it was a regular guy in a regular car, it's a blurb on the 5:00 news at best.
