Test drove Genesis coupe today

I thought I would test drive Hyundai's Genesis coupe as I wait for my Z to come :icon14:. The first thing I noticed was the harsh ride compared to the Z. The Z is a much more compliant ride. I tested the auto as that is what I ordered with the Z. This transmission is not very responsive and the paddle shifters are horrible, and also no rev-matching. The manual would definitely be the way to go. The wheel is very hard and uncomfortable and felt like plastic, I think it was leather though. Seating felt fine, could use more lateral support though, and braking was quite good with Brembo's all around. It also seemed to handled very well. The interior looked pretty good at first glance , although not real sporty. Upon closer inspection there were a lot of hard plastic materials, not so good. One thing I noticed was my knee was hitting the centre console a lot and it was a hard material, got to like the Z's soft leather panels. All in all it's not a bad car, but it doesn't come close to the Z in my opinion. I think it would fall even shorter on the track.

It's hyundai... really hard to compare it to a Z. Also with model did you test drive? 2.0T or the 3.8T ?

Well, I'm sure we all have different definitions of "sports car." I would probably label it a "sporty car." But yeah, if I wanted something slick on the cheap, that would be at the top of my list.

Compared to a Ferrari 430, the Z is a "sporty car". That is my definition of a "sports car".

poor hyundai, i feel sorry for them. They would be better off shutting down and starting over again with a new name. They would need to keep it a secret also, that they were formerly known as hyundai. A hyundai badge cuts the value of any vehicle it is attatched to in half. If the top of the line hyundai track that retails for 30k was priced at 15k it might have a chance at selling.
