Jay Leno drives Nismo IDX
You Tube Vid in article...
Jay Leno checks out Nissan IDx Nismo, spiritual successor to Datsun 510 - Autoblog Notice on the cam while Jay is driving that the IDX has virtually no rear blind spots from the side windows. I think these cars are awesome and can't wait to see them on the road. :driving: I just might DD one? |
with how much nissan is pushing the idx nismo concept makes me think thats the direction they are heading with the design rather than the idx freeflow
|
Video not loading on my end for some reason.

It's growing on me.. Don't think I'd ever want to own one but I will be happy it exists.
|
This car has been really growing on me too. Cool car
|
I'd consider trading in the Z for this. I picture it being like an FRS but not sucky.
|
I want this , prolly get one for the wife when it comes out
|
He is a Nissan fan. Loves the history of the z.
|
Love it! Would consider for a DD. My first car was a 1970 Datsun 210. I loved that car.
|
Holy Christ it's so ugly... I see the 510, but worse...
I've seen almost every episode of Jay Leno's Garage... But I don't think I'll be finishing this one |

tinted windows, a normal paint job and this thing will be hot |

The guy in the video didn't seem like a car guy, an artist, yeah, maybe, but not a car guy. |

I'm sure the edition that makes it to production will look better. This concept just doesn't look finished to me.

I dont think the GTR is pretty. Yet i still love the looks. The 370Z is pretty. With a big ***!! HOT!! The ID...I think its different and offers that pacific flair that lacks in the European market. If this car has any guts I could see picking one up, not to replace my Z34 but maybe a toy.
|
Yeah super excited to see this vid pop up yesterday. Finally get to see the IDx Nismo with some context (next to another car, on the road).
I have to say, it really looks sweet on the road! |

It's going to be a polarizing design that's for sure with some people liking it and some people absolutely hating it but from what I hear that's what nissan was going for in the first place and I'm glad they did instead of just trying to blend in they are actually trying to give their cars some character |

At least they're not boring, anonymous designs. Props to that for sure. Nissan has a whole range of cars that are boring and anonymous. Full support for going with a line of more fun cars that have a look to them. Even if I end up not liking it (not sure about that base model yet), I still want to nod my head, "yes, more please." |
My 16 year old son who is not a car guy things the IDx looks cool. He is part of the new generation that really isnt interested in cars but for whatever reason the look appeals to him, so maybe they have got something right in this concept.

Same thing with a Miata, might be "fun" to drive, it IS the quintessential sports car. Still gay as hell... (Same thing with the FRZ, although I just dislike the looks of the FRZ more than anything) |

my point still stands though, different people will react to the design on a car differently. myself for example....i think the current maxima is an ugly car, but since you have one or had one you obviously like it, doesnt make it a bad car, i just dont like the design of it |

What's going for the idx...
1. Similar size and weight to the toyobaru. 2. It will be built to Nissan internal and external build quality standards. 3. Nissan wants this car to have it's own driving characteristics. It won't be a toyobaru copy. 4. It will have either a 1.6/1.8/2.0 TURBO. Nissan won't say. Either way, it will have more balls than a toyobaru. 5. It's another affordable RWD sports car in the game. I think it's ballzy looking like the GT-R. And if it gets a soundtrack as raw as the focus ST? I'm getting one as a daily for sure.:driving: |

Quality, LOOOOOLLLL!!! Toyota has 5-10 times the quality of Nissan, granted the FRZ is a pretty shitty because they made it on a budget and released it under the shittier Scion name for a reason. And if it's to sell in Japan, it won't because of the Japanese laws that made the 370Z have no sound |

Second. If you've been in the newer cars. Sentra, Altima, Juke, Versa. They All surpass in materials compared to there rivals. Even the new Mazda 3 has superseded Toyota workmanship. Pathfinder interior kills most luxury SUV interiors at the 45k mark. As far as soundtrack. Most of the ST's soundtrack is heard inside. Lastly, the GT-R sounds awesome outside. Nissan just tried to go GT on the Z exhaust and the buying public wanted more muscular sound. The G37 has a better, more muscular soundtrack, so I don't understand where you're going concerning the exhaust? PS. The Toyota FT-86 in Japan has the same shytty FRZ interior:ugh2: |
