What'd you think about the RX-7, and how long did you keep it?

It was a beast, loved it, kept it about 3 years. The service manager was a friend of mine, and he said practically all of them were having major turbo issues around 75,000 miles, major bucks to replace both turbos. I traded it around 60,000 on the Lexus, but as far as fun, speed and handling, the car was fantastic....... very tossable, and a great power to weight ratio! I also loved the looks!

Holy **** I'm only 25 and never realized how many cars I have owned, until I listed them, LOL

motoextreme 01-22-2010 10:21 PM

What other cars have you owned?

I've had so many cars and bikes that I can't recall them all but I'm interested to see what others have owned. Some were great, some were nothing short of money pits. I'm interested to see what the rest of you are into and what brought you to a Z.

Add a :shakes head: or  to show if it was a good call or bad one. Bikes are cool too. No riding lawnmowers though :icon17:

Did you sell the Z for the GTR?

I've been meaning to ask, really love it? I test drove one but it was a short drive. I liked the Z look more but the GTR has grown on me a little bit since then, still not sold on the look 100% but I can appreciate the motor and such.

How's the transmission?

67 Datsun Roadster  very cool!

motoextreme 01-23-2010 12:12 AM

Thank you guys!

The Roadster goes to my new friend tomorrow, he's cutting the frame to fit the new Turbo motor in.

The Lambo, bought from Newport European, it was a very cool but obnoxious bright orange with 3400 miles (2004). Drove it home which is about 35-40 miles from Newport and clutch was slipping something horrible. Woke up in the AM excited to take her out and it barely moved. Dealer wouldnt warranty so I flatbeded it to them the following Monday at 5AM, dropped it off and blocked their driveway until they gave me my large deposit back!

2002 BEAUTIFUL 360 Spider and perfectly loaded. Bought in 2008 from Maserati of Sacramento with 1200 miles (something like that). nothing but problems, overheated twice, issues with the lights, constant check engine light issue, brake problem and sold 4 months later with 3700 miles with a clutch slip. Worst car I've ever owned in my life. Beautiful but the F1 clutch is a total pc of sh$%! New one is much better now I hear. Total $$$ pit!!!

GTX...VERY COOL

Tell you what, when my Roadster is done in a few months how about we trade cars for a quick jog. Always wanted to see what a 240 with a 8 stuffed in feels like. If your up to it that is. I said it on another thread, I'll be around 350HP with 1900 lbs on the roadster, should be a fun little toy if I don't look like a giraffe in it :)

Hey Adam, you might have to wait since she's been sitting for some time, and the sensation is like a Pocket Rocket... quarter mile under 12's easy..

I hope to get her back on the road later on, she's in rough shape but she does run, check out my z album if you haven't? :tiphat:

mick 01-23-2010 12:40 AM

i am surprised about your experience with the gallardo.
some car journalist wrote that you could drive the gallardo daily because it had an audi rs6 v10 engine -- can't trust them journalists :)

motoextreme 01-23-2010 12:48 AM

I see the potential with your Z, crazy that you have an 8 in there and there's still room. Suppose the electric fans help with that too. No BS, looks like a bit of work but I see the potential. My car is off the frame so its definitely going to be a handful, I move quick though :)

Lambo's...you know what, I've heard nothing but great things about the motor but do a forum search on the clutches. There's guys out there putting 2 or 3 in ONE year. At 7K a pop, no thanks! Neighbor BEGGED me to take his R8 off his hands in sept of 09 but I'm so scared of the clutch I couldnt do it. Kind of glad though now, those things are down to the very low 90's now.

06 Cobalt LT - Totalled (First car, only had 3k miles when I was hit head on while waiting to make a turn.) http://bytewire.net/Car%20MVA%202.jpg

07 G5 GT - Sold (Great little car. Decent performance out of the 2.4l + 30MPG, I was totally sold on the Cobalts and considered getting a SS/TC for a long time before deciding to "upgrade" so-to-speak. Also I didn't really want to be looking at the same interior 3 cars in a row. :V) http://bytewire.net/carshoot/g52.jpg

While I get what they are doing with the front grill, I really hope they don't do it.

I like the rest of the body though!

motoextreme 01-23-2010 01:27 AM

Nu took it up a notch adding pics.

That Vette is pretty crazy... Hopefully GM is still around to build it by then. I read a bunch of mags, not sure I've seen that one before. Biggest problem with concepts, the cool ones don't make it and the ones you think are cool are never the same once they hit production.

mick 01-23-2010 01:32 AM

this is the back view. the door opening is pretty cool :)

this concept car looks much better (to me) than the $375k lexus supercar.

http://i46.tinypic.com/nyv0c4.jpg

motoextreme 01-23-2010 01:38 AM

Things only missing one thing...a Flux Capacitor.

I'll go on record right now that they will never make it. I do like the fact that they are still putting their money into concepts. Back is a bit much for my liking but by then I suppose it could be the norm. Whether you like it or not, would be cool to see it on the roads one day.

That blue is really something. I almost bought a Laguna Seca blue M3 a while back and opted for the white. Reminds me a bit of that car when I see these Z's. Congrat's brother, looks too nice to drive.

Makes my dull primer looking Z look a bit used and old. Oh well, it matches the owner, I too am a bit used and getting older :icon17:
