Two Roads Diverge

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

-Robert Frost

For the life of me I can’t decide. The Miata is a well known entity as my 96 takes a bow. The 370Z is an echo of my 240Z with all the shapely exaggerated lines from the past and big kick in horsepower that rocks my world. Z has visibility looking rear of a tank but comes w/ back up mirror camera. Miata RHT does it in a snap & is a hard top. The convertible is more of a drag than plus for me anyway. Picked Miata at the start because it felt so close to my RX-7 on first drive and I was at home on road or track. Amazing. I could really whip the Racing Beat 7 around in autoX like bat out of Hell. Sweet. Little Miata goes zoom, zoom. Respected by Ferrari owners worldwide in a class all its own. Datsun has race heritage to boot a long side Mazda. Both are my heroes.

Aesthetics are key. Looked at Porsche Boxter but parts cost more & still not the 911 or even Cayman. Corvettes cost too much & I can’t see over the dash. Lotus is too pricy but would otherwise be The One, except for sparse interior. BMW Z4 is beautiful but too much luxury. Sky, Crossfire are a flash in the pan. I just have no other choices! Have I missed anything?

You posted a poem and followed up with a poem, I am not sure where to start.
Do we have a cryptologoy major?

Venus, I think you're on Venus and you need to come back to earth now. Is there a question in there somewhere?

kenchan 08-29-2013 10:48 PM

Very funny but I like where venus is coming from.
Just like any verse, you need to make your own interpretation. Still in search, not satisfied, looking for affirmation, the right one in sight perhaps.

kenchan said go for a mustang but given the cars venus mentioned, it's not even in the same breadth.

venus, once you figure it out, let us know.

I believe he's making things way too complicated.

Why don't you venture down the 'road not taken'? Have some balls and grab a copy of the Gearz episode where Stacey stuffs an American V8 in the Miata. Then you can watch all those cars you listed in the rearview mirror!

Follow in Robert Frosts foot steps and take the road less traveled. That would be the 370Z.

I already did that w/ my 240Z. She has a custom built Chevy 350 V8 and about 420 hp. Sucks the paint off pretty much everything on roads I travel but is not a candidate for a daily driver.

Had a 79 Mustang ordered from factory for college grad present from Dad. No American does the trick as are too big (have 4 seats) except maybe Corvette. But would kill for a 69 Camaro. Salivating...

My Miata is supercharged w/ all the Jackson Racing fixins but does not scratch my itch any more & needs rubber everything. Just want something newer w/ none of the woes of a 10+ yo car but can't seem to find my mark. Question is therein.

Hi, my name is Venus and I'm an addict. Why TF do you think I’m in the same room with you?

radarlove 08-30-2013 10:45 AM

I too felt your confusion when trying to choose, I considered the same cars you listed and tossed them for the same reasons. (Although the BMW Z and a MB SLK are still very nice.) Ultimately I chose a car that is relatively rare, has racing lineage, lots of history.

Wait a minute, they all have that... Did I make a mistake?

Not a chance!!!! Love it every day.

My favorite color is ham.
