Another entertaining thread from the gtr forum
http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/...-blown-motor/#
Brother just sent me this so i thought id share with u guys if u havent seen it yet. Enjoy haha |
OMG. battery held down with twine. Lol. Still amazes me people that have successfully earned a job that makes enough money to mod a car like the GTR and not have the sense to locate a great shop is. Research people. Only go to the best.

Not really entertaining...kinda sickening.
Interested to see the shop's response on the forum though. |
If I were in the market to get a GTR, I'm pretty sure I'd keep it bone stock - maybe an exhaust and that's it.
Too many (2) horror stories of builders ******* them up. |

There are some good shops out there no question and they contribute to our community and are the reason its so successful. Its easy to find who the top guys are as their track records are very apparent But personally wearing only an owners hat for a second... with all due respect I would never let even the most proven shop touch mine as I have no interest in the making the car more than what it is. The GTR community has become so aftermarket obsessed the last few years with a mentality that it has to be a 8 sec straightline car or its not a real GTR. I know a lot of this comes from the previous cars being such a tuner beast and there is a segment that buys these new cars that comes from that same thinking. For me when I see things like the video of the Takumi assembling the engine and just knowing the original idea the engineers had for the car It makes me want to just respect it the way it is. You dont see LFA owners running out and doing all this to their cars. I know its not apples to apples as the GTR is a more "mass" produced car but you get what im saying...Im about raising the cars image to a level like that and I just feel that when you get these 1K HP cars is not about the car can do anymore its the tuner. I dont like the direction the community has drifted years after the car has been out..the GTR more and more is becoming some highway pull car or straightline car and thats just not what it was meant to be. Thats a great aspect for sure but its about balance as well. Thats just my personal opinion and as the earlier model year cars becomes more and more affordable you will have even more people buying them on a budget and taking them to god knows who for their own 1000hp build so you will see more and more of this |
I'm usually a pretty easy-going guy, but after reading about the debacle above, this, and others, I'm beginning to think that Karma's workload it starting to overload him/her and some help is needed.

Same with the Z - just did exhaust and that's really it. The GTR may not even need that much. |

MC you stated that perfectly.
The Z could definitely use some mods though Haboob. A lot actually. |
I left my GTR stock. It's 1/12 scale.

It's perfectly fine with just exhaust for me though. I've grown out of the phase of wanting to race my car up and down streets and such, and I can't afford to auto-x, so that leaves me with just cruising. :) |

A laundry list of problems.

I'm thinking that the people that are buying these cars already don't make enough money to actually afford it so they cheap out on everything and still want to have the image of being a "baller." Too bad they are so easy to point out. And too bad they exist only to destroy what is good right off the showroom floor. The engineers never intended for the GTR to be blown to 1000hp and then some. It wasn't designed for that. And like a few already stated, it loses focus on what the car is about. THE TRACK. That thing where you make a bunch of turns and go "weeeeeeee!!!" Not at a drag strip. It isn't a drag car. There's plenty of drag cars out there built in the garages of old guys that have nothing better to do with their time that will be more than happy to blow the doors off a GTR any day. Hell, my own view of owning one has shifted away towards different ventures due to the bad press these clowns are giving it. And then there's the youtube videos. I can only guess that if a cop sees you driving one they'll automatically assume you've been out road racing and they'll be watching. Not the attention I'd want. But I digress...
