2014 Silverado Issues.... already.
So a little back info. I signed the papers on a 2014 Silverado 1500 LTZ with all the bells and whistles 15 days ago(July 21st). I traded in my 2009 370Z in on it, so I told them a I needed a few days to get all the parts off of the car before trading it in(intake, exhaust, coilovers, rims, system, sway bars, etc, etc, etc).
So fast forward to that wednesday(July 24), I pick the truck up and everything. Well I put it in reverse and go to pull out of the lot and the check engine light comes on. I was PISSED. Long story short,it was throwing code P0300 and something else so they replaced the injectors and the IPDM. It was a BRAND NEW TRUCK. Not even 10 miles on it. I get over that and chalk it off as **** happens. I pick the truck up last monday (July 29th) right before they closed. I drive it home and it drives great for a week. This morning(August 5th) I crank the truck to head to work. BAM. Check engine light is on, the truck is shaking so bad you can see it rocking back and forth. I turn the truck off and call my dealer. They arranged for a flat bed tow. Well I crank it up again to pull it out of the driveway to load on the flatbed and I notice the check engine light is flashing and the traction control light is on. The oil pressure is at 60psi and there is the faintest hint of white smoke. The truck is still rocking back and forth like crazy. We get the truck on the flat bed and I notice that in the rear there is a ton of water dripping from the exhaust(not the tailpipe, but the last section where it has the square resonator section). Upon further inspection it looked as though it was leaking from that resonator(again NOT out of the tailpipe)(I have ran the AC twice so its not condensation or anything). There was a black "oil like" streak around where it was leaking. The "water" was a tad milky and faintly smelled "sweet." It was dripping so much that it puddled on the flat bed. The truck was dropped off this morning at 9:20 and I have yet to hear a diagnosis. I called up there twice today and asked if they have even pulled the codes and they still haven't. The service department is closed today so I will be calling first thing in the morning. I just bought a $50k truck and I COULDN'T EVEN DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT. I am beyond pissed. |

Hopefully it gets resolved quickly, And you can start enjoying it. I would let them know you'll be in touch with the Local media or Lawyer to HELP YOU if they either don't repair it right or replace it. Keep us posted :ugh2: |
:shakes head: sorry to hear man
I can commiserate. I had to drive my brand new Z back to the dealership on the spare tire less than 30 minutes after driving it off the lot due to dealer incompetence (they left one of the tire's pressure real high after beading - I warmed the tires up a bit and it bubbled like a football). |

Q: Why are there sidewalks beside streets?
A: So Chevy owners have a safe place to walk home. :icon17: |

I would still trust American trucks anyday over Japanese. Although toyota way better than nissan my 2005 frontier is a joke and my buddies Titan had bad brakes and 9 mpg.

Update:
So I talked to a lady from GM this morning. She called my local dealer and laid down the law, so to speak. She told me that if I did not hear from the dealership in 24-48 hours to give her a call back. She gave me her direct line. A few hours later I got a call from my dealership. It was the Customer Service Manager. I was at work so I told her I would have to call her back later. I call her back at 5pm EST and she told me that she was contacted from GM about my situation and that I was unhappy(NO ****). She then went on to say that she wants to do whatever it takes to get this resolved and make me happy. I told her the ONLY way to resolve this is if I get a new truck. Identical to the one I have, but new. I told her I would go to whatever lengths and use whatever media(law, social, etc) to make this happen. She assured me that it would not be necessary and that we will get everything worked out. I have a meeting with the General Manager, Service Manager, and the Customer Service Manager at 7:30 in the morning. I will let you all know what comes of that meeting. P.S.- They still haven't gotten around to working on the truck. I asked if they were waiting on a tech like someone had mentioned and the response was "We don't know whats wrong with it" and also "We will not touch the vehicle until after our meeting in the morning" I will not be satisfied unless I get a new truck identical to the one I have WITH a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty... |
Man that sucks! Hope they give you that new truck man
|
That's a good sign that they're not working on it. Why waste labor on the vehicle when they're just going to give you a new one

It is a brand new 1st year engine. I'm very sure GM is interested in what occurred. They intend to sell hundreds of thousands of trucks with that motor, and trucks sales are very critical on perceived dependability. I'm sure they will look at it under a microscope

1 in 500,000 i wouldnt know, but it is bound to happen to someone unfortunately it was you. I hope they give you a completely new ride and not just repair it. Good luck and I hope GM makes it right. |
I just read an article in Car & Driver, or Road & Track, some type of auto magazine, where they had the same problem with their test vehicle. They had to return it to a dealership for a new truck. I'll have a look around to see if I can find the article.

A) you mean 150,000 mile warranty
B) 1 in 500,000, BULLLLLLLLSHÍT. If their failure rate was 1 in 500,000, they'd replace your car in a heartbeat, and no one would buy a Japenese car ever again. C) why I still like Toyota and FixOrRepairDaily over Chevy |

I don't care if they make them in Mexico or Antarctica at least their paint on their roof doesn't peel off within 5000 miles or have their seats rattle. Nissan should just quit making trucks.

BTW - the Frontier has been at the top of its class for a long time, and this year it beats the Tacoma is towing and off-roading capability. You know... truck things. It is a solid truck. While Nissan paint sucks, let's not over-exaggerate here. Every manufacturer has defective products from time to time. I would say in the grand scheme of things, Nissan has done well, especially with the Frontier. (The Titan is a different story that includes getting effed over by Dodge, but that is a separate story). OP's situation is the second I've heard happening with Silverados in the past year. Major mechanical failures within the first 500 miles. |

The Silao plant manufactures Escalade ESV/EXT, Avalanche, Suburban, and Yukon XL. The Arlington plant builds similar vehicles as Silao. Edit, Silao now builds some Silverado's starting with model year 2014 http://www.mlive.com/business/mid-mi...of_2014_s.html |
So how did this all work out in the end?
