Dodge Challenger drivers in your area

Tried searching the forum for this but couldn't turn up much. I was just wondering how the (newer model) Dodge Challenger drivers in your area are?

Honestly, up here in the North they are all pretty cool. Most of them lean their seat way back and wave and smile all the time. They just seem happy to cruise and enjoy the ride (I haven't ran into a single one who is pedal-to-the-floor ready to race:shakes head:, or rev-the-engine then peel out at the light like a teenager with a big block Chevy cerca de 1966):shakes head:) I'm personnally not a muscle car guy, but if I had to choose, that Challenger would probably be it - just because.

I like how our Forum has a strong showing of Mustang enthusiasts. But I figure there may be other muscle cars on people's minds (or maybe it's just me :icon17: oh well)

No issues with Challengers. It's the Chargers that I see driving like idiots and reving their engines at stop lights. And frankly, its mostly stock ones I see doing this crap. The SRT8 guys are respectable.

Never had an issue with Challengers. They always seem to be older guys, really chill.

ElVee 06-25-2013 10:15 AM

I've only encountered one who wanted to make it known to me that he's in a V8 muscle car. That's just one compared to oodles more Mustang drivers and even some Camaro drivers. Most Challenger drivers seem very laid back and secure in their car choice, which is fine by me!

Haven't had much issue with Chargers. I think around here they know their place, despite the gaudy paint jobs and stripes. :) Basically a family-hauler for dads who yearn for the V8 muscle. At least they're not in minivans, I guess.

This, for sure. They're also likely to be sitting on ginormous sized wheels.

Never had a problem with Challengers, Chargers or Camaros... Mustang guys always try to race me, I had a 5.0 prick run me off the road when I wasn't even trying to race...

:iagree: Not sure what their mentallity is here:shakes head:. Maybe something like, "Hey you! Yeah import d@uche! I rolled all this horsepower off the lot - straight American muscle baby. Yeah...huge [rooster] all day."

:icon18: my cousin (probably 15 years my jr.) has a SS Camaro maybe 2010 and he continually wants to "race" me.... :wtf:
I told him sunday the only "racing" he's getting out of me is on the autocross course trying to beat my time (LOL-his wife has forbid him to do anything related to racing or autocrossing until it's paid off!!)

UNKNOWN_370 06-25-2013 11:56 AM

Looks wise.
1.Challenger
2.Camaro
3.Mustang

I think the camaro is the best happy median of performance and power. While the other two represent the other two extremes of comfort and performance.

Looking forward to seeing the 2015 Barracuda.

Cmike2780 06-25-2013 12:11 PM

I like the Challenger, but if I had a choice I'd pick the one from 1970.

yaheard 06-25-2013 12:34 PM

I toiled over getting a Challenger or Z for a good year.....before I bought Jezzabelle.

I would love the current challenger if the belt line was lower, like the 1970. Unfortunately it was built on the 300 platform so it ended up uber bloated.

They're old farts trying to live in the past.

There, I said it.

Traded in my 1970 Cuda for my 1971 240Z. Was a good trade.

And your neighbors hatred influence all your opinions.

Jordo! 06-26-2013 12:49 AM

I actually really like the new Challengers.

I wouldn't trade the Z for it, but if I had the cash for a second car, it would be a black challenger with huge roots blower screaming under the hood.

icormba 06-26-2013 02:32 AM

For a Challenger… it’s a SRT8 or nothing, and if it’s a SRT8 then I would consider trading my Z for it.

I’ve driven a SRT8 Challenger at Laguna Seca and it performed very well considering the size.

I also drive a SRT8 Jeep and stock for stock… it is WAY quicker than my Z.
0-60 in 4.3 seconds

With all that said… the Z sure is a fun car to drive!

DEpointfive0 06-26-2013 03:54 AM

^the Jeep's got a LOT more torque too

I sold my Challenger SRT8 for the Z two weeks ago. Its a great car but just too heavy

Chuck33079 06-26-2013 06:41 PM

If it were about 7/8th the size, and weighed 500 lbs less I'd probably own one.

This is really what turns me away from muscle cars. That's not so say that ALL muscle cars are heavy. Its just that I am a massive fan of finesse-driving, and prefer my sports cars to be light-weight and nimble.

Also add (for me):

If it weren't ugly.
