They would only let me go up to 6k rpm (redline was 8k) so I wasn't really able to push it much. Was a small track too, but still a fun experience.

Well that's going to be a bummer if they have the same limitations at this one I'm going to.

Could have swore I read they'd let you open it up all the way...

It's probably different for every organization that does it. Of course I didn't find this out till right before I drove it. They were all automatics too :(

Your could always rent one for a day, lol. The one I went to didn't have a rev limit (I mean technically I guess it did), but there was a limiter on top speed. I couldn't go faster than 80mph. Not that big of a deal since the track was kind of small to begin with. They also wouldn't let me shift it out of "Auto", but I could gun it down the straightaway as much as I wanted. The laps went by pretty quick. The guy running the event did let me run a couple more laps than I paid for, so it was all good.

Also, I think Lambo & Ferrari all come with Single/Dual-Clutch type gearboxes now. I think Lambo dropped the manual trans a couple of years ago. The only true manual trans in the Ferrari stable is in the California. The F430 still had it, but few people actually bought it because it was slower.

Just found this one on Yahoo:

Twin-turbo, 700-hp Ferrari 458 crashed into swamp after top-speed run | Motoramic - Yahoo! Autos

talking about car crashes, I sold my 370z nismo because it was number 4 for 2010.
I heard that #4 sounds like death in Chinese, Japanese :-O
I figured it's better to be supertitious and wrong then not supertitious and wrong :-)

I sure hope the present owner is doing okay :-)

How about a wreck that smashes eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and two Mercedes at the same time?

I don't understand how people can drive this stupid... for me the more expensive the car, the slower and more careful I am... I drive my SUV like a maniac because I don't care about damage and my Z like a granny because I like to keep it immaculate

He did.
The guy buys wrecked supercars & repairs them and sells them. Well he got a Bugatti and kept it, but thought he could do an insurance scam and get away with it. His excuse was there was a pelican, got to love the internet and stirring the pot.

Basically a whole lawsuit came against him & they even started to look into his past buys/sells/wrecks.

Did they ever finish that lawsuit? Last I checked they were still working on it, but this was last year.

Depending on what they found it could still be going on.
I would imagine he settled out of court just to get it done with. I mean the guy was making good money and had a good business idea.
