Got a Z, but it's not a Nissan...

I bought a 2002 Corvette Z06. It's fun as hell... :D (Although, intelligent key would have nice. ;))

I'll be getting rid of the wing soon. I don't really like it and would like to get the ACI spoiler. The car is filthy right now. I'll be detailing it tomorrow.

Congrats looks great!

GMZ 07-14-2009 05:51 AM

Nice, low miles for an 02

AK370Z 07-14-2009 05:59 AM

Very nice! LSx engines are amazing. I love the ungodly amount of low end tq. A nice set of rims + good detail =

congrats

Bdub 07-14-2009 09:46 AM

looks awesomeee

shabarivas 07-14-2009 10:27 AM

how much it run you????

Lug 07-14-2009 10:39 AM

I love the 2002 Z06. 405 hp and < 3200 lbs. FTW. And Blue is kinda a rare color to boot!

Crash 07-14-2009 12:24 PM

Thanks guys. Yeah, the car was hardly ever run at all. I'm positive the owner almost NEVER floored it so I went out an blew out the carbon last night. ;)

The car is definitely filthy but the paint is in great condition. I'm going to have her detailed either today or tomorrow (when I can get around to it) and post up some better pics.

I got it for $19.5K which was a steel since it's worth quite a bit more with those wheels and those miles.

The wheels are Custom HRE 540Rs. One has a tiny bit of hardly noticeable curb rash which I'll have fixed, but aside from that they're very clean.

I've already had the car sideways a few times... The low end torque is WAY more than my LS1 Trans Am's. At 30MPH on a straight, I put it into second and dropped the hammer... The car went sideways for a second and then the active handling came on. At that point, I held on very tight because I knew what was about to happen... The car straightened out, hooked and took off like a bat out hell... WHHHOOOOO! Scared the piss out of me at first.

I'll need to weight my car. I believe with stock wheels the Z06 is supposed to weight 3060 or 3090 with 1/4 tank of gas. This car has intake mods, so it could possibly be making more than 405... The CIA manufacturer says the CIA on it is good for 18HP at the crank. Dyno's show about 10RWHP. But I still am skeptical.

shabarivas 07-14-2009 01:37 PM

Holy crap thats sooo cheap man... maybe ill look into some used z06s lol...

Crash 07-14-2009 01:58 PM

Yeah. The guy really wanted 21K for it, which was a steel in the first place. :)

The car is just amazing. The body is perfect, the paint is nearly perfect (a tiny chip on the wing, which is going bye-bye anyway) and the interior and clean. It was a deal I just couldn't pass up.

CrownR426 07-14-2009 02:53 PM

Ew

smurfblu13 07-14-2009 04:36 PM

that is an awesome car Crash.. Congrats!

You gonna keep the HRE's on it? I agree with you though spoilers got to get the boot, no pun intended.

dad 07-14-2009 04:40 PM

Congratulations!:driving:

This pictures make me miss my 2004 red convertible Vette. We had a flood in Miami Beach about a month ago and mine was declared a total loss, it had under 25,000 miles and look awesome. Oh well, with the money I bouth the 09 370Z base in PG.

Pushing_Tin 07-14-2009 06:34 PM

Sweet ride! Congrats.

Mike 07-14-2009 07:42 PM

congrats! I have a C6 myself, along with the 370.

KillerBee370 07-15-2009 10:01 AM

Vettes are pretty cool but pop up headlights FTL!!

Crash 07-15-2009 01:01 PM

Thanks people.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of pop-up headlights. I was thinking about changing them out to the C5R fixed headlights. I've heard they're WAY brighter too. These aren't that bright. I put HIDs on my 300zx and those are a lot brighter. So I may do the same thing on the vette. The headlight conversion is around $1200 for the good set and that's not including the HID kit. :D

CBRich 07-15-2009 06:27 PM

Definitely a nice vehicle as long as the interior doesn't bother you. There is so much you can do with those, enjoy!

MightyBobo 07-16-2009 06:01 AM

A used Vette is probably the best bang-for-buck purchase you can do.

theDreamer 07-16-2009 09:10 AM

Nice buy, hope to see it nice and clean soon.

It really looks like the paint is in perfect condition everywhere except the wing (which has a couple tiny chips in it). But that's fine because that wing is coming off and I'm putting on the ACI spoiler.

MightyBobo 07-16-2009 01:14 PM

Good call on the spoiler - that thing is hideous. Car looks great though.

Er, I mean, DURR WHY DIDN'T YOU GET A 370Z DURRRRRR

Crash 07-16-2009 01:24 PM

HAHA! I was REALLY turned off by the manager at the Nissan dealership I went to. I walked out of the show room in the middle of signing papers for a new 370z. 5 minutes later, my friend called me and told me he was selling his 2002 Z06... Well, I couldn't pass up the deal! He sold the car before I got the cash up front. I was all set on buying a Z06 at that point. Then that day he sold his, I found this one and test drove it right away. After a good thorough inspection over the car (for mechanical issues) I told him I'll take it and now I have it.

As for the interior, Chevy interiors have never been my favorite. I wish they would have done more with the Corvette or the Trans Am. But what's interesting about the Corvettes is that there's a lot of little things I didn't know about that's just way cool. Like the manual shifter night light. The gauges don't look great in the photo I posted, but at night they're a purple-blue color (not green like the picture shows) and they look really nice. The seats are comfortable, but they don't really hold me well, so I'll likely be getting seats from the C6 Z06.

I definitely liked the 370z interior more. But this Vette's interior is very clean and is a huge step up from my 300zx. The dual zone climate control is kind of cool. I don't know how much sense it makes in a tiny cab like the Vette's but still quite interesting. The radio sounds good, but I'll likely be changing the entire Bose system system out for a Pioneer AVIC system. There's OEM looking Double-Din bezels I can get for it.

I gave her a nick name on Tuesday.... "Zox" :)

INSURANCE101 07-16-2009 01:34 PM

nice to know someone else thinks like i do. right now im looking for an 07 or 08 z06 for under 50k, if my license is back and i havent found one, im going with the z. so its a win win situation...

and you got luck man. really nice car except for the spoiler. haha

theDreamer 07-16-2009 01:40 PM

Car looks even better, great color also and seems to be in perfect condition. The rear spoiler definitely needs to go.

Crash 07-16-2009 01:53 PM

Yep. The new spoiler is $500 so I need to save for a couple weeks. The old spoiler is ugly, but nothing was going to stop me from getting this car. It's in REALLY good shape. The wheels (which have finally grown on me) are in excellent shape. And the interior is clean... No rips.

mrmixitup 09-09-2009 07:47 PM

Nice car. Congratulations.

Crash 09-10-2009 02:17 AM

Thanks... She's been unbelieveable... Since I've had her, girls have been coming up to me instead of me going up to them... I'd hate to say the car is doing all the work for me, but it is. :D

So does this mean you have to WORK more? ;)

Great looking Z06. I would drive it!

Crash 09-10-2009 03:07 AM

HAHA... I haven't done videos in a while. I retired from being in front of the camera in March. The last video I did was a femdom video and I got beat up pretty good. Retired on a hight note. :D

I still work in the industry, just not acting. ;) The Z is fantastic... It's more than I'd expected and I'm still getting used to how raw it feels. It drives like a dream when I'm not in the throttle, but as soon as I put my foot down she becomes a totally different animal.
