My Future Z Sketches

So, during Hurricane Sandy I had some free time and got to work on some concept art on what a future Nissan Z could look like and I thought I'd share. I took some inspiration from the 240Z, the 370 and Nissan's design language. I'm not a professional automotive designer or anything, I was just really bored not having internet access for a week. Let me know what you guy's think:tiphat:

the 2nd pic from the top, reminds me (sort of) the R8 :yum:

Thanks fellas.

I was going for a bit of retro, without necessarily the retro styling. If you guys have any thoughts about something you'd like to see, feel free to post and I'll try to sketch something the next time I get bored ?...or if theres another hurricane, lol.

Normally I think stuff like this is fugly as people over-exaggerate everything or create something stupid, but you have done a great job and the sketches look very appealing!

Cmike2780 11-16-2012 04:11 PM

Last one with a sketch of the back.

Hi there! I love automotive art, and do the same as you when im bored. But wow your pictures are simply amazing! Would you mind PM me what you use? Are the done by Computer or markers? Or?.. I usually use prisma markers for my drawings.
Great job on the design by the way! The rear end looks killer!

Nismo89 11-16-2012 08:25 PM

i hate it when Car companies protypes and drawings look more bad@ss than the actual production line cars do................ would be nice to see the actual Designs EXACTLY as shown get into production. and leave it. i think the drawings capture the eye more so now than if someone messes with the design during a phase or two.

what you see on paper.. is what you get. thats what i want. i see a great looking car on paper, in design. now i want THAT car exactly how it is.... to be produced.. nothing changed, got it Nissan? got it? lol

Mike 11-16-2012 08:29 PM

I love it, but I think we will never see a sharp nosed car again like you have designed. European front pedestrian crash standards have pretty much killed that.

bigsix 11-17-2012 02:21 AM

I like it, man ! Going along with a slimmed-down, lighter, more fuel-efficient kind of style.

That's kind of what the BRZ/FR-S started to portray, I think. Right for our times, no doubt.

Thank you. I used Adobe Photoshop and mostly the airbrush tools. The overall forms I sketched out on a piece of paper first, scanned, then traced the lines using Autocad( just 2d splines). You can also do use illustrator or photoshop, but Autocad is easier & faster for me. I use to do this stuff using prismaticolors too, but having an unlimited pallet in Photoshop makes it so much easier once you get the hang of it. I also draw with an Intuos digital tablet.

It's pretty easy once you know the basics. Photoshop is actually one of the easiest programs to learn. It just intimidates a lot of people. I managed to teach my 12 year old sister how to use it. It just takes practice. You should try it if you've ever wanted to do any sort of illustration. Adobe has a 30 day trial of the full program you can try out. If you decide to buy, be warned that Photoshop is kind of pricey. Elements would probably be your best bet for now. It gets you about 80% of Photoshop's features at a quarter of the cost. The rest is advanced features and tools you normally wouldn't use anyways. AutoCad is a bit more technical, but not really neccesary for this kind of stuff. I use it all the time for work, so its just faster for me to draw with.
