Winter beater needed, what to buy for 1k?
Wanna buy a winter beater, preferably 4 cylinder, fwd or will get snow tires for rwd...what should one look for ...looking to spend 1k to $1500...

older civic, accord, camry. something along those lines would probably work if you can find one in decent shape.

I bought a 98 Toyota Avalon for $1400 back in July and still running good. Look for Toyota or Honda!
|
S10 Blazer, end of discussion. 4.3 gets 21 mpg, 4X4 for snow, roomy as ****. Traded an old motorcycle for one and never looked back.

Good Post
I live in Western Missouri. Our winters are usually pretty wimpy but once a while we have a good one. I've been thinking the same myself. For a while I thought I'd find a "cheap" Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Ha! What was I thinking???

For under $1500, it doesn't really matter as long as it still runs and most of the stuff still works. An older Japanese car would be my choice since they're usually pretty cheap to fix and keep running. You're probably looking at 15-25 year old car with a ton of mileage for $1,500.

Civics and Accords are overpriced as used cars. However the Prelude is nicer and can often be found for cheaper.
